Infogrames has officially confirmed that it will develop next-generation games based on last year's blockbuster film Mission: Impossible-2. The company, which released Mission Impossible games on the Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Boy Color, and Sony PlayStation, has secured the rights to the game from Viacom Computer Products. Mission: Impossible-2 will be released in fall 2002 for the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony PlayStation 2.

"Infogrames is very pleased to accept the challenge of creating a video game to match the excitement, tension, and action of Mission: Impossible-2," Rob Watson, senior vice president of worldwide licensing for Infogrames, said. "This is an example of one of the things we do best--licensing powerhouse entertainment properties and creating interactive magic. Along with other recently signed high-profile properties, M:I-2 will be part of a series of the most exciting Infogrames games players have ever seen."

GameSpot will have further information on Mission: Impossible-2 as specific details are released.
