MLG CEO challenges Twitch, says streaming content creators can make more money with them

Everytime I've watched a big event on MLG.tv it has been laggy and full of ads up to the point I bought premium access so I wouldn't have problems. Well, even then the experience was bad. Twitch.tv is no stranger to problems but they're rare. Of course this is just my personal experience.

Anyone thinking of using twitch to stream Diablo 3 when it comes to ps4 and x1? Been playing on the ps3 and was kind of hoping to see something like that to happen. What do you think EQN steaming? Or maybe even when ESO comes out. I know I won't be able to get ESO, but being able to view another players game on the PS4 would be pretty cool to drop into once in a while.

Around 80% of gamers who view online stream content either use browser/3rd party ad block. These are the estimates i have heard. Now we have twitch, who is for the masses at around $5 per CPM (thousand views who watch ad), and now MLG.tv at $20-$30 CPM for players, and around $40 for event organizers. That gives a much broader PREMIUM content base. We see the largest Call of Duty players such as Nadshot who has 440k twitter followers and 1 million YouTube subscribers, or Prosyndicate 1mill twitter followers and 6mill youtube subs jumping on board, or partnering at the time with MLG. The reasons behind MLG isn't to overtake twitch in terms of broader base, but just to be able to have an ability to monetize, sell content and ads from within, to turn a profit. With their ad block abilities, and coding abilities for embedded ads, and the premium content providers they are bringing forward. It gives, and breeds competition. Why anyone thinking a single company having complete control over game streaming, and not having competitors step forward to maximize profitability is reckless at best. Not only grows the competitive base, esports scene through gamebattles or mlg website hits, but helps branch out to provide event organizers a better way to monetize their efforts, And the ability of MLG to do regional based ads and sell the marketing/advertising demographic potential to new partners and new sponsors.

The irony of this is that the MLG wouldn't be as popular as it is without twitch, but I guess it goes both ways.

I don't doubt that the bigger names may make more money there, but while MLG is a popular brand, Twitch is insanely huge as far as streaming goes. It's kind of like Origin going up against Steam. Yeah, people might use it and give it a go, but it's tough to compete with a juggernaut.

Since I'm not a massive fratboy douchebag, and don't stream for the "incredible wealth", I think I'll stick with Twitch ta.

A) I don;t stream on Twitch to make money &

I'd be really happy if all that MLG crap left twitch, but I guess twitch wouldn't be happy...

MLG tv has no chance against twitch its one of the situations where its far too late to hop on the bandwagon. Twitch is like an avalanche right now and its gonna crush anything in its way. Also people are making a ton of money on twitch through just donations.

yea because people will choose that unknown steaming company over twitch which is now a household name
