Modern Warfare 2 Is "Most Advanced" CoD Game Ever, Activision Says

A more modern take on advanced warfare.

In its latest investor's call, Activision Blizzard began hyping up the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The company described the sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare as "the most advanced experience" in the history of the franchise.

Activision also added that a refreshed Warzone was still in development, and is being built from the ground up alongside Modern Warfare 2. The free-to-play FPS battle royale will also have several "groundbreaking innovations" that will be revealed later this year, Activision added.

Now Playing: History Of Call Of Duty WW2 Games

Elsewhere in the Activision briefing, the company revealed that Call of Duty: Vanguard sales were less than the previous game, Black Ops Cold War. Between developing Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, Activision is also working on expanding Warzone 2 onto mobile platforms.

In other Warzone news, Caldera island is about to see a Godzilla and Kong rematch. Activision has teased map changes and secrets to uncover on Caldera before the titans arrive, as well as a new Gulag location for Season 3.

Season 3: Classified Arms will go live after the Vanguard and Warzone updates arrive on April 26 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Here's a breakdown of everything confirmed for Season 3 for the games, which will see a new Ice Axe melee weapon added and unlocked through an in-game challenge.

The sad truth is if they don't charge for the new warzone it will be infested with hackers from day 1.

The most advanced one yet?! You can now put 30 different fluorescent colors on your gun, instead of just 25?! This is gonna be awesome!

Hate to be this guy, but hardcore multiplayer, gunfight 2s/3s with friends, and the current story makes the game fun for me. If you didn’t play the story mode on MW 2020 on realistic in 4K, you have done yourself a disservice. I’m excited to see what the next one brings to the table. No weapon balancing issues when a bullet is a bullet.

Spawns will of course be a horrible mess, but it’ll get worked out.

Can anyone explain to me (for real) how at launch a shotgun can practically snipe across an entire map? Or think of all the unbalanced or broken weapons. How could quality assurance or beta testing, heck… ALPHA testing, not immediately notice this? It’s a popular weapon; surely they put it through its paces……?

Can you imagine going to a $200,000,000 Marvel movie and when the inevitable big CGI battle starts all you get is the wire frame animation? Or 5 minutes before the end it fades to black on a card stating “Ending available in third quarter of 2022!!”.

[heh heh….. Naturally, since this is Activision after all, when that time rolls around what you’ll really get is: “Activision has heard the fans, and we now understand only the best will do! Therefore we are committed to making this the best ending possible and will release it to you free, as our gift to you this upcoming Christmas!” ]

Is the shotgun goof and others simply because conditioning causes the players to use the shotgun only in its intended manner? That’s what I think, but darn it… shaking and breaking is what beta testers *do*, isn’t it?

If the company can’t be bothered to check something that obvious and basic you just know the game is going to be a train wreck. I personally think beta testing is intentionally being shoved off on the customers. What’s going on in those first handful of months of “ironing out bugs” is spot on what the beta testing process used to consist of, right?

Not to mention incomplete code is not “a bug”. This has to be illegal. Bait and switch, intentionally delivering a faulty product…. Yet this is literally what they are doing. I’ve never been a beta tester and certainly not a lawyer, but these things are so blatant I don’t see how they are not taken to task.

@nobody_special: I think its because most game devs arent actually good at playing games, or play them as much as we do. May sound strange, but the majority of them type or draw/create assets all day. Not play video games. Why testers didnt find it though? No idea.

Besides that I loved MW 2019. My favorite since the original.

A remake sequel to a remake will be the most advanced thing they can make?

Are they scraping the bottom of the barrel?

maybe "advanced" in other area, but overall - it's still play like call of duty 4 back in 2007.

i like playing mw2019, but it has bad match making and keep throw me into a launch map most of time when i play 10v10 mosh pit on the ps4 pro.

Whoever is still believing this crap at this stage needs to see a doctor.
They have the tone of a struggling used car salesman begging his loan shark for more time.

“Come on man, just one more time pleeeease, I promise you, I promise, I'll have it up and running by this time next week. It's going to be the most advanced you've ever seen, I swear, I swear it, the most advanced ever. It'll be groundbreaking, innovative, just pleeease.”

And the fact that they're not struggling at all makes it infinitely more pathetic.
They don't even need to grovel and they're grovelling.

Will there be single player campaign in this COD? I love the previous one and Cold War campaign. As long as there is no online only, a usual day one buy for me...otherwise $15 is all you get from me!

I love how corporations that sell essentially the same product annually try to hype up the current year's product over last year's (there's a 2 after the name this year so it must be better!).

All I know is that Activision has released two of the worst selling worst reviewed games the past two years and they cannot go for the hat trick of mediocrity.

I'm done believing Activision.

Modern Warfare was the last one I bought on release and it managed to be nothing more what a Remake of the MW Remake released the year before.

New campaign, same online game.

STFU, Activision.

We've seen your dumbass fish ai and mo cap dogs. You're creating these games for people that don't even play video games. Forget anything meaningful being half impressive in these titles.

Sure and it will be completely ruined by a terrible matchmaking system, spawns and weapon balance. Watch: even after all these years where shotguns are completely OP and them nerfing them after a few months, they're going to somehow make them completely OP at the start again.

You would think each new game should already be considered by default “the most advanced” Cod game ever.
