Modern Warfare 2 sales top $1 billion

Reason sell so well mainly almost all play first modern warfare brought it and spread the words Also of the best online gameplay and lots of replace value, that many game lack this day. People rather buy game that they play many times over instead just beat the game once and seat in the shelves.

I've gotten about 80 hours of fun out of MW2 so far. It was a good $60.

I miss the time when games ACTUALLY had storylines that lasted more than 5 hours. All that ever comes out of IPs today are FPSs, generic JRPGs, and Activision's GH games that have been whored out to the point of mediocrity.

some people complain about the single player campaign being no good, that these games are all about the multiplayer, I personally am the other way around, I love the single player campaign but avoid the multiplayer, not that I think it's bad, but for some reason when I play games like Battlefield 1943 or Bad Company online, whenever I go back to play CoD the pacing of the game feel like it's running on turbo speed, and it sucks too because I used to love CoD multiplayer

@Fyre8892 i know but id finish the series instead of droping it especially when its pickin up and there making millions/billions now on it.. i do agree they make a good ip but id finish off mw3 with the amount of money there making off it...

campaign is ok,but still inferior from the first one.. online is great but compare to other FPS games on sale (Killzone2),KZ2 is more tactical..anyway, it's still AWESOME!! Especially seeing enemies got bombed fly high by AC130..:p

Activision's CEO could take a dump in a bag, write Call of Duty 7 on it and it would sell millions. Actually, that would not be much worse than MW2.

The only thing I'll say is this: the current state of the gaming industry disgusts me.

WHAT!!!!! daaaaang, it's going to pass Avatar in sales, give it a couple months, and that's despite the fact Avatar has a 400-500 billion dollar budget. absolutely sick, congrats IW and AB

I love this game!! But I wish there was an option to be a female character,every game should have the option to play a female character in my opinion, but I still love this game. :P

This is what happens when a company invest in a good framework. Infinity Ward took a frame work and made it a little better, I personally love this game. So good job for them if you don't like it sell you copy that way I don't have to list to squeling pansies when I Smoke'em!!! LOL

I really don't like it when companies give in to "hype" and ruin franchises of games. They focus on money instead of the actual fans' concerns. After getting this game, I definitely need to watch what "Mature" games I get in the future. The gameplay was great but everything else was either "meh" or "uncalled-for". Not only do I feel ripped-off but I am also mad. But I'mma move on. Let's hope future games don't follow this game's footsteps.

Avatar budget was around 300 million and 150 mill in marketing, MW2 was not nearly the same amount in budget to make but did spend a lot in marketing.

I think (or better: I know) that if IW don't stop creating this expansion-lenght games no one will buy them.I mean 5 hr!?!?!? Come on!! For LESS money I could buy Dragon age or something!

I love and hate this game. There's nothing more annoying then some idiot running around with 1887's akimbo or some idiot running knifing everybody. But there is nothing funner then using the ac130 :D

the only bad thing in MW2 is the campaign(due to it being so short) but I think the PC guys can complain how much they want about the multiplayer changes

Modern Warfare 2 is strictly a multiplayer game. Single player is short and over the top in its civilian gore, really did not enjoy the way they presented it. I will think twice about any future purchase of the series with type of format.

I regret buying this game, I hardly play it. In my opinion W@W is better and after playing BFBC2, I know it'll be 10x better than MW2.

I see people complaining of too many places to camp on the multiplayer maps. I really don't have a huge problem with the camping since after they kill me once I know where they are at and go get them. This is a great game.

MW2 is like a action packed hollywood box office movie for me.... What a storyline. Sad that it's too short.

Hillarious a medicore shooter with basicly no improvments or awesome new things like legendary shooters as CS,UT,Deus EX,Half Life and so on is making so much money because of hype and commercial and ofc every casual and their dog bought it.

IW totally deserve it, MW1 and MW2 are simply awesome.

So first person shooters, along with music games, are the games that sell the most. No wonder it's massive. I miss those good ol' days where you actually had to win the game, not just finish it. Oh well, it's ok since I liked MW too.

I want more innovation, less milking. It's funny that Blizzard, which is an extremely innovative company, whether or not you like WoW, is together with the company that drops every game that can't be made into 24 sequels. I am simply not going to buy the next Modern Warfare game unless some big changes are made.

Congratz to Infinity Ward. Now please use some that money wisely by fixing all these annoying camping spots here and there. It is really getting on my nerves now.

@firesage423 Game market needs more new IPs. Remeber that everything was once a new IP. Even cod4, which was not a new IP, went where the series had not dared to go before. Infinity Ward has proven their ability to make good games so I would say that you should start grumbling just yet.

@ZeerusX I think ACx7 has a very valid point (if an exaggerated on). I can attest that I often have major lag issues that I never experienced in cod4. I too am running off of a 12 Mb/s connection coming to me through a recently installed cat5 cable. Another thing: the shotguns should not be secondary weapons, and, at the very least, should not be akimbo-able. How, may I ask you, do you reload two double-barrel shotguns at once? Are akimbo 1887s used by any military, anywhere, at any time? A lot of killstreaks are little OP in their ability to influence the overall outcome of the game (but that's mostly understandable). Naturally there's going to be balance issues due to the sheer volume of stuff you can use, but IW really needs to be on top of this stuff sooner. All in all, those are mostly minor complaints. The lag issue really puzzles me, and it's frustrating that I can pay so much for solid internet but this one game can't seem to utilize it right. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great game, and I surely enjoy playing it.

MW2 really didn't impress me. As soon as I get the plat trophy I'm going to trade it in. Maybe Uncharted 2 spoiled me? Or maybe there are too many FPS games and this one did almost nothing to stand out from the rest.

@ZeerusX I don't have a crap conenction. I never lagged on CoD4 or WaW, or any other game I played online aside from Gears 2. Which lagged for everyone. Yes, no 3x Frag. But Perks that let you run through bullets and melee someone (commando) from half way across the map. Secondary weapons that are better than the primary weapons, and matches that are dominated solely by killstreaks. Not to mention a S*** host migration system that disconnects half the time after forcing us to wait 2 minutes while it trys to connect. Id rather just disconnect straight away. Skill used to be needed in multiplayer games. This game takes any form of skill out of the game, and favors those that like to hide and spam killstreak rewards that they dont deserve. The game is broken, and needs fixed.

I just don't think a $60 price tag for multi player only is worth it....

@acx7 well what do you expect, some part of it has to screw over somebody, and this its the PC people :/ but really, wow, that is a lot of money, for a game at that.

@Acx7 It might fail if you have a crap internet connection, or lives way out in the boonies maybe... I live on the west coat, about 2 hours south of San Francisco, with a Comcast 12mps internet connection. I am not exaggerating this: I NEVER lag. If I ever encounter ANY lag in the game, its an individual player whose lagging, which happens in every online game no matter what. This game is infinitely better then CoD4 and WaW simply cause it DOESN'T have 3x Frags. Hell, if thats the only change they would have made to the game, I STILL would have bought it. Made the gameplay so much more tactical.

Weird, that's only 72% of what Avatar has earned in 3.5 weeks. Which is surprising actually, considering how much more a game costs...

Now maybe they can take some of this money, re produce the game to fix the hundreds of bugs in the multiplayer, re release the game, and pay to give us better servers. Then I'll be happy with the game. Until then, it is nothing more than a popular disappointment. This coming from someone who is a huge CoD fan. The multiplayer is NOT good. It fails in comparison to WaW and CoD4. They have too much work to do on it.
