How To Get The Best Monster Hunter Wilds Armor
Obtain the ideal armor set a few hours into Monster Hunter Wilds' campaign, the Guardian Ebony and Guardian Arkveld sets.
Among all the options, we feel that the Guardian Ebony and Guardian Arkveld are the best armors in Monster Hunter Wilds. These are our picks for the Low Rank segment of the game, though you do need to spend several hours just to reach this part of the campaign. Our guide discusses everything you need to know about how to acquire these gear pieces.
Monster Hunter Wilds best armor guide - Guardian Ebony and Guardian Arkveld set
Both the Guardian Ebony and Guardian Arkveld armor sets can be yours fairly late into the campaign (roughly after a dozen hours or so of playing). Prior to this part, we suggest doing the following:
- Practicing a bit in the Training Area so you can determine the best weapons for your playstyle.
- Crafting early-game items that should help you for the first few hunts.
Guardian Ebony armor set
Eventually, you should reach the Ruins of Wyveria, where you'll get to battle Guardian-type monsters. The key factor that differentiates these beasts from their normal counterparts is that they can channel energy to heal/close their wounds. This means you need to be quick in destroying their wounds so you can cause as much damage and grab as many materials as possible.
As for the Guardian Ebony set, the materials needed for this come from the Ebony Odogaron creature. We feel that it's the best armor in Monster Hunter Wilds because three pieces from the set--i.e. helmet, gloves, and belt/pants--grant the Burst perk. This provides a boost to your physical and elemental attack if you continuously land hits. If you can equip three parts to have the level 3 skill, then the bonus will be more significant, too.
Furthermore, the set bonus when wearing four gear pieces activates the Ebony Odogaron's Power. It increases your attack power and the duration of the Burst buff.
In any case, here are the required materials:
- Helmet: 1x Guardian Ebony Claw, 1x Guardian Ebony Fang, and 1x Guardian Ebony Tail.
- Chestpiece: 2x Guardian Ebony Sinew and 1x Guardian Ebony Fang.
- Gloves: 2x Guardian Ebony Scale, 2x Guardian Ebony Sinew, and 1x Guardian Ebony Fang.
- Coil/pants: 1x Guardian Ebony Odogaron Certificate, 1x Guardian Ebony Tail, 1x Guardian Ebony Claw, and 1x Guardian Ebony Plate.
- Boots: 2x Guardian Ebony Scale and 1x Guardian Ebony Claw.

Guardian Arkveld armor set
We also feel that Guardian Arkveld is one of the best Monster Hunter Wilds armor sets due to the Flayer perk. Flayer makes it easier to inflict wounds, as well as additional non-elemental damage. Moreover, the 4-piece bonus nets you the Guardian Arkveld's Vitality perk, which restores your HP whenever you destroy wounds on a large monster. These boons make this armor set great for offense and survivability.
You do need the following materials:
- Helmet: 1x Guardian Blood, 2x Guardian Rathalos Webbing, and 1x Guardian Scale.
- Chestpiece: 1x Guardian Blood, 2x Guardian Ebony Claw, and 3x Tough Guardian Bone.
- Gloves: 1x Guardian Blood, 2x Guardian Scale, and 2x Guardian Seikret Feather.
- Coil/pants: 1x Guardian Blood, 2x Guardian Doshaguma Claw, and 1x Guardian Pelt.
- Boots: 1x Guardian Blood and 2x Guardian Pelt.

The other cool thing about the Guardian Arkveld set is that the materials come from other creatures in the Ruins of Wyveria biome. These include the Guardian Rathalos, Guardian Doshaguma, and even the aforementioned Guardian Ebony Odogaron. As for the Guardian Seikret Feather, you can keep redoing the "Spread Those Wings" optional quest by talking to Alma at your camp, since the wild raptor-bird mobs drop the items that you need.
That does it for our guide on the best armor in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't forget that these two options are just for the Low Rank segment of the game. Once you've unlocked High Rank and, later, Tempered Monsters, you can craft other equipment or choose the upgraded versions of these.
