Monster Hunter Wilds Hits Top 5 All Time On Steam For Concurrent Players
Valve's platform also set a new record with more than 40 million users online at one time.
It was a record-breaking weekend on Steam, propelled in part by Monster Hunter Wilds becoming the platform's No. 5 title of all time for concurrent players. The action-adventure game had over 1.3 million people looking to take down fantastical beats on Saturday--and that number doesn't even include PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users.
Steam itself saw over 40 million users for the first time ever on Sunday. The new peak players online total for Steam now sits exactly at 40,263,524. Speaking of specific numbers, Monster Hunter Wilds hit 1,384,608 concurrent players on Valve's platform on Saturday, per SteamDB. The Capcom title is only behind PUBG, Black Myth: Wukong, Palworld, and Counter-Strike 2 on Steam's all-time chart for peak concurrent players.

It was just in August when Black Myth: Wukong became No. 2 all time for Steam concurrent players with over 2.2 million people. A little over a year ago, Palworld passed 2 million concurrent players on Steam, at the time becoming only the second game to ever do so on Valve's platform. PUBG still holds the record with 3.2 million.
Monster Hunter Wilds just launched a few days ago on Friday, February 28, and got off to an amazing start on PC. The game smashed previous Steam records for the franchise. For instance, Monster Hunter World only topped 300,000 concurrent players on the service, though World was not a simultaneous release with the console versions as Wilds was. Additionally, Monster Hunter Wilds saw more players on release day than Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077. However, despite its popularity, some PC players have experienced performance issues with the action-adventure game, leading to mixed reviews on Steam. Monster Hunter has become Capcom's second-best-selling franchise of all time.
