Gamers who have wondered what it's like to be a teenager trapped in a town overrun by monsters are in luck today, as SouthPeak Interactive has released a demo for Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia. The 436.6MB download is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace.

In Monster Madness, players take the roles of stereotypical teens: the nerdy Zach, the bubbly blonde Jennifer, the "extreme" dude Andy, and the goth Carrie. The unlikely quartet is brought together when they step up to defend their neighborhood from an invasion of zombies and other ghastly creatures.

The game's main draw is four-person cooperative play locally or over Xbox Live, but gamers can also go head-to-head in competitive play. Movement is controlled with the left thumbstick and aiming is controlled with the right thumbstick, allowing players to move in one direction and shoot in another.

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia is rated T for Teen and will retail for $59.99 when it hits stores May 15. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
