More details on free-to-play PS4 exclusive Deep Down
Capcom's fantasy RPG will feature Demon's Souls-esque shared-world dungeons, according to new preview.
More details about Capcom's free-to-play PlayStation 4 game Deep Down have surfaced, thanks to the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu, as translated by DualShockers.
Perhaps most intriguing is that Deep Down's procedurally generated dungeons will exist in a shared-world, similar to that of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. While exploring dungeons, players will encounter the virtual corpses of real-world players, and can loot them for equipment.
What's more, Deep Down's dungeons are built around emotions, called "Memento," which players can use to enhance their weapons and armor, though it's unclear right now how this will work. It's also now been confirmed that two-handed, damage-heavy Greatswords will be available in the game.
Deep Down is set in 2094 New York and runs on Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine. Lastly, a new story blurb for the game was provided to Famitsu. Check it out in full below.
The stage of the story is New York in 2094. A member of the Ravens with the ability to read the residual thoughts that dwell on items earns his livings by clarifying the story from archaeological sites of ancient cultures. At one point in an excavation in the Czech Republic some ruins from the late 15th century are found. The presence of a mysterious city and the memories of an ancient civilization can be found in the site. The hero receives the request to investigate the ruins and to read its memories.
