More Free Xbox One And Xbox 360 Games Now Available

Xbox Live Gold members can now pick up more free games.

As part of the Games With Gold program, the 4v1 monster-hunting game Evolve is now free on Xbox One, with the shoot-em-up Heavy Weapon dropping to the low, low price of free on Xbox 360. Bear in mind that Heavy Weapon plays on Xbox One through backwards compatibility.

Additionally, the horror game Layers of Fear is free on Xbox One all month long. These new games replace Project Cars and Borderlands 2, which were free through March 15.

April 2017's Games With Gold lineup has not yet been announced.

In other news, Microsoft has rolled out the latest weekly deals on Xbox Live, featuring discounts on a lot of Ubisoft games. You can see a roundup of the deals here.

Why not just buy an Xbox 360 and games if that's what you want to play? I don't understand why people get excited for a release of a game title that has been available for years. There's nothing wrong with admitting you would much rather play the Xbox 360 instead of the Xbox One. It's just an all around better console with better games and a dashboard that is not cluttered.

Don't even bother. Evolve is still dead online. What an embarrassment and I'm glad it nearly killed its studio for being greedy and ripping off Gears of War's art direction.

i played borderlands 2 on the xbox one with my disc. i downloaded it onto the 360 i have and then downloaded it onto my xbox one but it keeps asking for the disc on xbox one

@splittmark: linked maybe? 360 is disc based so maybe it asks because it was installed from disc. So just redownload digital....ive wondered this often like if I paid 5.00 for BF4 digitally would I have to redownload from store or would license apply.

Evolve was fun. As long as you played with people you knew and use mics. If you don't have either. Your fkd. Never heard of Heavy Weapon. Looks bitchin though. Def checking it out.

Heavy Weapon is an absolute blast to play, particularly as couch co-op. One of my fav 360 XBLA titles of ~10y ago.

BTW, it's also accessible enough that you can convince your non-gaming friends and family to play too.

@deakenblack: I don't get the Evolve hate, it was a fun game. The content of the game was sparse but the game itself was great. And now it's free, fair enough don't download it if you really hate it that much but it's a solid AAA game you get for free.

@theothersider: I have played it. I actually got it for free on launch day and sold it the following Monday. So maybe I should be thanking Evolve. I'm in the plus for money spent on it.
