More PlayStation Games On PC Require A PSN Account, And Players Are Upset

Even the single-player games require it.

More of PlayStation's games on PC will require a PSN account, even the single-player ones, and many players were upset with this decision.

During Sony's May 2024 State of Play presentation, PlayStation announced that God of War Ragnarok and the Until Dawn remake were coming to Steam. However, according to their respective store pages on Steam and the Epic Games Store, both games require a PSN account in order to play them.

Players voiced their concerns about the situation, questioning why a single-player game needs this requirement. One player even joked that they'll sign up for PSN when Sony finally ports Bloodborne to PC.

The PSN debacle began earlier this month when Sony announced that players would have to create a PSN account to continue playing Helldivers 2. However, Sony reversed this particular decision after fan backlash. Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut was released on PC earlier this month, but only the multiplayer aspect required a PSN account.

God of War Ragnarok for PC will launch on September 19. It supports ultrawide monitor support and DLSS/FSR/XESS, as well as all post-launch updates such as new game plus and the Valhalla DLC. The Until Dawn remake will launch on PS5 and PC in Fall 2024.

I mean despite the helldiver chaos, i already required to register for every single friggin stuff on pc, even for writing this goddam comment. And having a psn in 2024 doesn't hurt.

The main problem is that PSN isn't available on every countries.

So instead of worrying about how to force more people into making psn, what sony need to focus on is making psn more readily available worldwide instead.

Does a PSN login block mods? I don't get why it's such a big deal for people to have a PSN id if it doesn't affect the game in a negative way. If it does prevent mods and whatnot, yea, it sucks .

Agreed! I am from one this countries that are not supported by PSN regional settings (made an account using the neighboring country) both whenever I try to access for example "Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT I get the message not supported in your region. The solution is simple, If Sony does not want to change it's policy then simply add support for the country (my country is in Europe) or be not surprised by the rising piracy of their games...

sony might as well release their own pc launcher for their games and not have steam or epic host their games then and to access their games - people need to register at sony to download and play their games.

@nintendians: As much as I hate another launcher, this would work.

@spoochy: pretty much, so sony could track their games on pc and playstation and without paying fees to steam to host it.
