What do you do if you've been instrumental in developing two popular off-road franchises? Throw 'em together, add more vehicles, and cover the whole off-road genre in one fell swoop. THQ today announced that MX vs. ATV Unleashed, developed by Rainbow Studios, has rolled into stores for the PlayStation 2. An Xbox version is expected to be released on March 24.

The game combines aspects of two series based on off-roading--the motocross mania of the MX Unleashed franchise and the four-wheeling action of the ATV Offroad Fury franchise--both of which Rainbow Studios has worked on in the past. In addition to the familiar dirt bikes and ATVs, Rainbow has added monster trucks, dune buggies, and even golf carts to the racer.

MX vs. ATV Unleashed will be playable online with up to six players on both consoles. There will also be different modes, such as hill climbs, gap jumps, and machine challenges.

MX vs. ATV Unleashed is rated "E" for Everyone and sells for $39.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
