Namco Developing Time Crisis 3

The next installment in the Time Crisis series is coming exclusively to the PlayStation.

Comments

Sources in Japan have informed GameSpot News that a new installment in the Time Crisis series is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation. The game, which will be developed by Namco in the US, is currently still in planning stages. Expect to see Time Crisis 3 out by summer 2000, at the earliest.

This brings up the question then, what about Time Crisis 2? Namco could be planning the game for the PlayStation later this year, or it may decide to not release it at all because of the huge graphical and gameplay downgrade in porting it to the PlayStation from the arcade. (The arcade version used two monitors.)

Given Namco's iffy stance on developing for Sega and coupled with the fact that there is no current Namco light gun available for the Dreamcast, it looks like Time Crisis 2 won't be ported to that system either.

GameSpot News will follow this story closely and deliver more details as we hear them. Expect more information on the PlayStation Time Crisis 3 and the possible Time Crisis 2 port as the year progresses.
