Napster Is Coming to Wii U in Europe

Music-streaming service Napster, which is now completely legitimate and owned by Rhapsody, is coming to Wii U, at least in Europe. Nintendo of Europe announced a partnership with Napster today to bring a free streaming app to the console across Europe tomorrow, December 17.

The app is free, but you'll need to have a Napster Unlimited subscription (£5, or around $7.50) to get access to the platform's 34 million tracks. In terms of functionality, you can use the Wii U GamePad's touch screen to search for tracks, albums, and artists, browse by genre and other categories, and access curated stations.

If you have the Napster app on your smartphone or a profile with the Web player, you can sync it up with the Wii U app, too.

The Napster app for Wii U will be available starting December 17 from the eShop. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Napster Unlimited here.

Right now, the Napster Wii U app has been announced only for Europe. We've followed up with Nintendo of America to see if the app will also be released in the United States and Canada.
