NBA 2K24 Gameplay Trailer Looks Pretty Great, Shooting And Dribbling Systems Improved

Ahead of NBA 2K24's release next month, 2K and Visual Concepts have released a new gameplay trailer and divulged more information about what's new in this year's professional basketball sim.

Gameplay director Mike Wang said in a blog post that NBA 2K24's gameplay should be both more skill-based and intuitive at the same time, to help appeal to the veteran players and newcomers alike. Take a look at the impressive new gameplay trailer below to see some of what's new this year.

2K says shooting and dribbling are "more accessible and intuitive than ever before," and that players should be able to more easily perform dribbles to get into space to make a high-percentage shot. Additionally, adrenaline boosts have been "redesigned" to help make offense and defense "more engaging."

On the coaching front, NBA 2K24 brings back "2K Smart Play" on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, allowing players to select up to 16 actions like specific plays or simple give-and-gos. Another current-gen feature coming back this year are "takeovers." Players can fill their takeover meter and then activate abilities around finishing, shooting, playmaking, defense, or rebounding.

Featuring the late Kobe Bryant on the cover, NBA 2K24 releases on September 8 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game's $150 25th Anniversary Edition comes with a number of perks, including a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass.
