NBA Jam rebounding at EA - ESPN

Would love to see NHL Hitz next, between that and NBA Jam I was a ''sports'' gamer..... well maybe not really but those games were so much fun.

Who can hate a game where you can dunk from across the court?

NBA Jam was always awesome. And @ that party pooper below meh, Madden 09 on the Nintendo wii is actually fun playing with some friends

You guys are too easy. EA = industry parasite. They use their size/budget to buy expensive licenses/brands and buyout their competition; they spend a sh*tload of money to market/advertise the game, and then cut a bunch of corners on the development side of things (you know, where the consumer actually benefits). They probably outsource the development of their base code to some 3rd world country, and then hire entry level programmers to tweak and tidy it up. They also plaster the game with obtrusive corporate ads -- and try to up-sell you on tons of nebulous items that should have been freely available in the game to begin with. The result: a $65 bug-filled regurgitated piece of .... Why will this EA game be any different?

Never played Jam, but still play Hangtime with a mate on his 64. For years I thought Marv was saying, "baseline weiner". If only.

@ McGrumpy33 I really cant believe you just said that!! Seriously, you havent seen any good sports games on the Wii?! I guess i should fill you in then. Tiger woods 2010 on the Wii(thanks to wiimotion+ is the best golf game ever released(so far). Grand slam tennis for the same reason is by far the best tennis game(at least this gen). The Pro evolution soccer games have been best on Wii thanks to the Wii pointer and for the same reason Madden on the Wii has had the "call your shots" and "All play" options make up for the lack of HD graphics, leaving it on par with the other versions(check metacritic to see the average consensus). NHL 2K10 is best played on the Wii thanks to WM+(read the review). And how about Shaun White snowboarding having been best played on the Wii and getting a sequel only on Wii. And also for the casual sports games Wii sports resort is Awesome fun! Oh yeah, and for F1 fans..the Wii had the official 2009 game(and it got pretty good reviews) and until the 2010 game comes next fall/winter for PS3/360, it will be the game to play. Im not even a sports fan and i remember this off the top of my head... And its only because i read the reviews from all the major sites and never fall into the pit of taking anything said in the comment sections as truth until its been confirmed by the media.

HE'S ON FIRE!!....Man, I miss hearing that after a 3rd dunk, Bring it to the 360 or PS3, hell, just give me the old 90's NBA Jam as a download and I'll be a happy man.

I like all systems, but what is wrong with this game on the Wii? Because it's full of shovelware? Because it's not in HD? Because they ruin cIassics? Because Nintendo is not the same anymore? I'm sorry, but all those reasons are false. Downright false. (although I will agree that Nintendo isn't the same, but they still make good games) If done right, EA can make a great game ressurecting this. And putting it on Wii doesn't make it bad. Just look at Modern Warfare on Wii. It may have been nulled down a little, but it was still a great game, even on the Wii.

One of the only sports games (if you could call it that) that I played religiously in my youth. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Wow, I haven't played one of those since back on the Genesis. One of the few sports games I really enjoyed.

Keep it simple. 2v2 with online, classic gameplay with NBA players. Maybe even have some old NBA greats, but thats it. Don't mess up the "Jam" name.

wii and nba jam a perfect combination a simple game on a simple console. it better have the full court dunking in game to simply break the game play

This might be the first time EA has ever released a good NBA game.

This should have been put on the xbox... The only way an NBA JAM can make a great revival would be to use to old style graphics and not some new 3d look like the last revival attempt.

Too bad this is a Wii exclusive. This could have been an XBLA title that my brother and I would have eaten up instantly. We used to play the SNES cartridge for hours on end. He was VERY young at the time, early elementary school, but the announcers cracked him up and the crazy jumps and flaming basketballs entertained him. We laughed for hours and hours playing NBA Jam Tournament Edition. Man... remember all the codes there were to unlock all kinds of players, like Bill Clinton? Those were the days.

I thought I read a few months ago that this was one of the future games coming to XBLA. I'm almost positive. But I guess not now. Such a waste!!! Everyone knows that 3rd parties make no money on the Wii, so why make it exclusive?!! I just don't get the thought-pattern behind that decision.

Why the Wii? or maybe I should ask this better, why 'only' the Wii? Is it because that market is the only one that will pay full price for a retro reboot? I'm pretty sure if this was a full game on the X360 or PS3 it would get scoffed, XBLA or PSN title maybe... for $15. See on the Wii though this goes for a cool $50...

Sigh, been waiting years for this game to make a come back and now it's making a half hearted one with the Wii. I really do hope they make a arcade version for the real gaming consoles.

Only 2 problems, its for the Wii and EA is making it. EA just does the Wii so they wont have to put any effort into graphics. I had NBA Jam TE for Sega and it was absolutely awesome

whats the whole point of this they already have nba street, aint that arcade enough... I guess the only competition to that would be nba ballers but I doubt anybody plays that one but yea I just dont see the point of rebooting this series yet it is a ol school game and I did enjoy it back then on the snes :)

I remember unlocking good'ol Bill and Hillary Clinton on the classic version. I would put on the "dunk from anywhere" cheat and just start dunking fullcourts with my little fatheaded Bill Clinton. :D

From what I understand, NBA Unrivaled will NEVER be Jam!! They need to put it on systems that'll make it some more money (PS3, X360). I'd get it then!!

good thing i still have my sega genesis and nba jam for it :-D, so many memories with that game. i actually still play it from time to time

NBA Hangtime > NBA Jam

Too bad its for Wii. Would be much better as a PSN or XBLA title.
