EA has announced that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 has gone gold. Hot Pursuit 2 is the sequel to the 1998 original, which was released for the PC and the PlayStation. With 20 courses and 22 licensed cars from makers like Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini, Hot Pursuit 2 will let players assume the role of a cop-evading speed demon. Hot Pursuit 2 will also let players switch sides, chasing down and busting speeders in one of several cop cars.

Hot Pursuit 2 will be released simultaneously for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube on October 1. The PC version will follow shortly thereafter on October 21.
