Neil Druckmann Refuses To Comment On Last Of Us 3 Or Multiplayer Game But Confirms "Other Projects"

Druckmann is keeping quiet.

Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann has responded to the report that the upcoming Last of Us multiplayer game has been put on ice. He told Entertainment Weekly that he had "no update" on what's going on with that game and he wouldn't discuss a potential third Last of Us game either.

"The Last of Us is obviously a world I love deeply and know our studio and fans do as well, but I have no comment at this moment on the series' future beyond our focus on The Last of Us Part II Remastered," he said.

Druckmann went on to say that Naughty Dog has "other projects in the works."

Before this, Druckmann said Naughty Dog had chosen its next game, but he declined to say if it would be The Last of Us: Part III, the rumored new sci-fi game, or something else.

"I know the fans really want The Last Of Us Part III, I hear about it all the time," Druckmann said. "All I can say is that we're already into our next project, the decision has already been made. I can't say what it is, but that is the process we went through."

As for the Last of Us multiplayer game, it was recently reported that Naughty Dog put the game "on ice" after Destiny developer Bungie reviewed it. Naughty Dog's next release is The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which comes to PS5 in January 2024.

Beyond games, The Last Of Us Season 2 for HBO could begin filming as soon as January 2024.

Last of Us 3, in which Ellie (the hero of the previous game) is killed off and replaced by... a cricket this time.

@sebb: LOL it wouldn't surprise me considering how stupid Druckman is, he only cares about MONEY these days now that he's at the top of ND his days of caring about characters and games and fanbases is long gone. They'll probably make us play as the character they have murder Ellie.

@monkeyporn: He created The Last of Us. He can only laugh at bitter, jealous punks like you. Just like George Lucas could sh*t on all the prequel haters.

@Berserk8989: No HE didn't... a handful of people were what made the first what it was. People who left or gave up because of what Druckman wanted to do to the writing.

They're gone, and now Neil's stupidity shines through unchecked.

He's a hack.

@Berserk8989: You are wasting your time.

Look at their logic now:

"considering how stupid Druckman is, he only cares about MONEY"

Against their logic before:

"They killed Joel, they will lose all the fanbase, they will go bankrupt..."

And they have the audacity to call other people "stupid"...LOL

I want them to take their sweet time and make it exactly as they want it to be. TLOU2 is one of my favorite games of all time and I'd love to have that kind of experience again 😍

@mooglestar: is the second one really as horrific as everyone was saying it was online when it released? I played the first one and it wasn't. I could be desensitized but it wasn't as horrific as everyone said. Maybe the second one isn't also. I'll play it for the first time when it releases on pc.

@sebb: Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The majority of people love it (from what I've seen) but many don't like it at all. The gameplay, visuals, story - all are exceptional in my opinion. Most of the people who don't like it ding it on the story. They don't like Abby, or the pacing, or the fact that you're not playing as a certain character this time around. For me it's one of the most amazing and engrossing stories I've experienced in a videogame. Wouldn't change anything about it.

@mooglestar: It sounds like maybe they were asking more about the level of violence/horror in the second game, as compared to the first.

@itsnota2mer: Ohhh. I'd definitely say it's more brutal. Visually and emotionally 😭
