A live-action version of the famous Japanese anime series Cowboy Bebop is headed to Netflix, it was confirmed today. A press release from Netflix states the show will tell the "jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price."

Netflix ordered 10 episodes of the series, which Variety reports has been in the works since 2017.

The director of the original show, Shinichiro Watanabe, is working on the TV show as a consultant. Additionally, veterans of Sunrise Inc., the studio that made the show originally, are executive producing the new live-action version.

Cowboy Bebop only ever aired 26 episodes originally, but there was also an anime film and other franchise extensions.

The first episode of the new Cowboy Bebop is written by Chris Yost who worked on Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok.

There is no word yet to when the new live-action Cowboy Bebop will premiere or who may star in it, but keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
