Netflix Gives Marvel's Jessica Jones A Season 3 Renewal
Jessica Jones just can't catch a break.
Jessica Jones has not reached the end of her story just yet. After Season 2 premiered on International Women's Day in March, Netflix has announced the Marvel series will continue thanks to a Season 3 renewal. The following contains spoilers for the second season of Jessica Jones.
What's unclear is where in the show's timeline it will return. The end of Season 2 jumped forward in time a bit, with Jessica (Krysten Ritter) finally accepting her role in the world as a hero, though without Trish (Rachael Taylor) and Malcolm (Eka Darville) by her side. With her character in a better frame of mind than ever before, a third season of the series should be very interesting to see--even if Season 2 felt like a downgrade in quality from Season 1.
Still, even though critics weren't as wild about the latest season as the first, a renewal was practically guaranteed. After all, Netflix has yet to cancel one of its entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The second season of Luke Cage arrives in June, while new seasons of Daredevil, The Punisher, and Iron Fist have all been ordered.
The only piece of the puzzle that hasn't been addressed is Defenders, which saw all of Netflix's Marvel superheroes teaming up. The team-up was presented as a miniseries, rather than a standalone show that could continue. Still, a continuation is always possible should this piece of the MCU continue on long enough. As for Jessica Jones, though, a return date has not been announced.
