Netflix Making The Bone Comic Into An Animated Series
Jeff Smith's Eisner-awarding winning fantasy is coming to Netflix.
The iconic comic book series Bone is finally getting an adaptation for the small screen. Jeff Smith's fantasy series has just been picked up by the streaming service Netflix.
The series is one of Time Magazine's "Ten Best Graphic Novels of All Time," and since the book's inception in 1991, has won numerous Eisner and Harvey awards, sold over 8 million copies, and has been published in over 30 countries.
The comic series follows the adventures of the Bone cousins, Phoney, Smiley, and Fone Bone. They go on adventures across the fantasy-driven world and come across the evil Lord of the Locusts, a terrorizing threat to humanity. It is the epitome of a hero's journey tale.
"I've waited a long time for this," Smith said in a press release. "Netflix is the perfect home for Bone. Fans of the books know that the story develops chapter by chapter and book by book. An animated series is exactly the way to do this! The team at Netflix understands Bone and is committed to doing something special - this is good news for kids and cartoon lovers all over the world."
At the time of this writing, it is unknown when Bone will debut on Netflix.
