New Adventures of Little Ralph Screens
We come across new screens of what could be the finest 2D PlayStation title yet.
New Corporation of Japan released some new screens of its latest game in development, The Adventure of Little Ralph, a 2D side-scrolling action adventure title for the PlayStation.
The game places you in control of Ralph, a brave warrior turned into a helpless kid by the evil demon general, Bargo (who has kidnapped Ralph's love interest, Lutecea, and is currently in the midst of taking over the planet). A pensive Ralph is left with no hope, until suddenly a magnificent sword appears before him. Taking the sword in hand, Ralph sets out to save the world and his beloved Lutecea.
The Adventures of Little Ralph is displayed in glorious 2D, a rarity these days. It's definitely something fresh after the barrage of 3D games at last week's E3. The art in these screens seems very reminiscent of Capcom's early 16-bit greatness.
While we haven't gotten our hands on the game yet, New Corporation has announced one great gameplay element. When enemies fire projectiles at Ralph, he can swing at them, causing the objects to fly back. Also, enemies, when struck by Ralph, can spring back at others causing chain reactions. These chain combos add up, giving the player more points which in turn can give Ralph more lives.
The Adventures or Ralph is slated for release in Japan on June 3 for 4800 yen (US$38).
