While little is known about the storyline of the upcoming Alien: Covenant, an interview with co-star Danny McBride earlier this month confirmed that it would be a "dark horror movie." McBride plays a pilot and has posted an image of himself in the cockpit of his ship on Instagram.

This is the latest in a number of images and videos released from the production. Earlier this week, star Katherine Waterston was pictured alongside director Ridley Scott, while this clip revealed prosthetic work on a familiar appendage. Previous images have included Waterston in character and the insignia for the ship referenced in the title.

The film has now finished shooting, and is set for release in August next year. The cast also includes Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup, and Demian Bichir.

In a recent interview, Fassbender spoke about the epic scale of the production. "The sets are fantastic," he told the Inquirer. "The most impressive sets I've seen since Prometheus, which was the original setting. It's a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley did Blade Runner."

Alien: Covenant was originally announced as a direct sequel to Scott's's 2012 hit Prometheus, but has subsequently gone through a couple of name changes to align it closer to the Alien series. It hits cinemas on August 4, 2017.
