New details on PS4 game The Order: 1886 emerge
Ready at Dawn reveals game will be story-focused third-person action shooter with "filmic" feel.
Ready at Dawn has revealed new details on The Order: 1886, the all-new PlayStation 4 game announced during Sony's E3 briefing earlier this month.
In an interview on the PlayStation Blog, Ready at Dawn cofounder Ru Weerasuriya explained that The Order: 1886 is a third-person action shooter. He described it as "linear" and story-based with an overall "filmic" presentation.
"With this game we replicated a lot of physical attributes. We have true lens distortion. We built physical lenses into our engine so we could get something where people will look it and not be totally disconnected," Weerasuriya said. "Games have a tendency sometimes to be too clean and crisp. We thrive in the dirt. We just love the fact that it feels dirty. It’s filmed in a very realistic way."
The Order: 1886 is set on London 40 years after the Industrial Revolution. Though the game will not feature a 1:1 mapping of London, Weerasuriya explained that the studio is attempting to "stay as true as possible" to it.
No mention was made of a multiplayer component. The Order: 1886 is in development exclusively for PS4, though no release date for the game has been announced.
