New Euro VC titles pack a punch

Three more titles are released for European Wii owners to download, including "comical boxing game" Punch Out!

The Euro Virtual Console catalogue is expanding again this week with the announcement of three new titles out today. The first, Punch Out!, was originally released in arcades in 1984 and has the player assuming the role of a rookie boxer trying to make it to the top. On the way up, the boxer has to fight in numerous matches to vie for the ultimate prize--the title of world champion.

Next up is the SNES action adventure game Legend of the Mystical Ninja, which was originally released in 1992. Two characters, Kid Ying and Dr. Yang, are tasked with the unusual mission of having to rescue a princess. The game can also be played in two-player mode where the two characters can "piggyback" each other in cooperative battles.

The final title up for grabs this week is 1990's TurboGrafx platformer Dragon's Curse. In the game, a warrior has had an unfortunate run-in with a dragon and, as a result, has been turned into a Lizard Man. The object of the game is to retrieve an item called "the salamander cross," which will allow him to return to human form.

Punch Out! will cost 500 Wii points (approx £3.50), Legend of the Mystical Ninja will cost 800 Wii points (£5.60), and Dragon's Curse will cost 600 Wii points (£4.20).

I can't wait to download Punch-Out! in North America (specifically Canada). I downloaded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES today, and Starfox 64, and they're even better than I remembered!!

Punch-Out is a classic, but I'd really like to see Crystalis (NES) and Starfox 64. Those would really make my day. :)

I wish they'd localize Ganbare Goemon (Mystical Ninja) 2 and 3 on the Snes... Legend Of The Mystical Ninja is just the first of the three Goemon games on the console that was localized and sold outside Japan... I think there was also a fourth game on it involving Ebisumaru looking for Goemon who's missing.

hehehehehe.......sweet! Cool line up. im sorry for the laughing, its usually us in europe, specifically the UK where we end up getting things last, i like wot nintendo are approaching, the fact that there are gamers (With lots of hardcore gamers) in the UK, i kno its a shock but its true. Well, if the other major consoles do the same, maybe the UK wont be such a boring bunch eh?

I need to get Mystical Ninja. I remember the games on the N64 and I loved them so much! I hope they put Mystical Ninja starring Goemon 2 (Goemon's Great Adventure) up one day, as that is one of my all time favourites!

Chronixxxx, these might not be game you want to play but others might like them, and last I checked, Punch-out was Quality

Well said StrikerGold, I have Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy V, The latter is far more enjoyable! By calling Super punchout and mystical ninja crappy games, you obviously dont have any gaming memories past the PS2, Your not a real gamer, So stop being an absolute moronic Boob, and go buy a SNES! Though i do like FPS' They are going down hill these days, give me an oldschool RPG or platformer, over Doom 3 anyday!

magrappy "woooow 15 year old games that arnt worth playing more then 5 minutes for nostalgia, thats revolutionary" Oh please get over yourself. While not every VC game is gold, Punch-Out and Mystical Ninja are more entertaining than the majority of the crap that is produced today. Oooohhh... give me yet another FPS that shows how many millions of pixels and millions of shades of brown this high tech processor can do, and let me shoot the same damn aliens/zombies/nazis with the same crappy AI or the same profanity spewing pre-adolescents who get their jollies camping your @ss. Grow a soul. /rant OK, now I'm up for taking down Super Macho Man.

Mystical Ninja and Punch Out, two great games, I loved Mystical Ninja. I wish they would comment with a new one. Why doesn't Nintendo release the same games all over? Oh, and if people don't like VC games why do they read the articles and then comment on them, think they would have something better to do.

Geez, why didn't we get this selection? We're stuck with one of those crappy Romance of the Three Kingdoms games and that's it. Come on Nintendo, release something with quality.

If you in the UK were smart like me and imported an American Wii, your Virtual Consoles games would cost.... NES (500 points) US Import = £2.53, UK = £3.50 TG16 (600 points) US Import = £3.04, UK = £4.20 SNES (800 points) US Import = £4.06, UK = £5.60 N64 (1000 points) US Import = £5.07, UK = £7.00 Even with VAT it shouldn't cost that much more, there's no excuse. Nintendo are just milking people in the UK more. On top of that, UK has to deal with with crappy 50hz problems and black bars.

Legend Of The Mystical Ninja is an absolute classic. I own it on the SNES and reguarly play it. It's a fantastic game, with quirky platform, RPG segments are brilliant, and the mini games are pure genius. The game hasn't aged at all. I definitely recommend it out of the three!
