New Look: Eternal Ring
TOKYO - From Software shows off its first-person action-adventure title, and we've got new media for you to see.
TOKYO - From Software's Eternal Ring looked like it was really taking shape, and the demo on the show floor let you play through a level or two and battle two big bosses. While a lot of the environments shown today seemed somewhat simplistic (walls would often repeat with the same bland textures), there were areas where the game really shined, as you'll see in the pictures we've grabbed for you. For instance, there's one boss you'll face in a circular room filled with about a foot of water - all of the backgrounds have a distinct gothic look to them. As for the enemies, the few we've seen look pretty good and at least animate nicely.
As for how the game plays, you have a sword that you can use to hit enemies, as well as some magic projectiles. The sword feels a bit slow and sluggish at times, especially when you're facing fast-moving enemies, so the projectiles are the way to go if you've got 'em.
From what little we've seen of Eternal Ring so far, it looks like it'll satisfy those looking for an adventure- style game on the PlayStation2. Check out the new media we've captured.
