If The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won't be a launch title for Nintendo Switch, what game could take its place? According to a report from Eurogamer, a "new Mario" could be the one.

The site reported today, "We've heard the console's new Mario will be ready in time" to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch announcement trailer showed a woman playing a 3D Mario platformer. In one sequence, we saw Mario jumping through a town in the desert, while another (also set in the desert) showed Mario running along a platform and avoiding a Bullet Bill. Whether this is a full game or a tech demo remains to be seen.

No new Mario game for the Nintendo Switch has been announced. Also bear in mind that all the titles in the announcement video only constituted "short glimpses of representative gameplay to demonstrate the liberating nature of the Nintendo Switch home gaming system." The announcement video also showed off an NBA 2K game and Skyrim, neither of which are confirmed for the console.

Eurogamer also reported today that Breath of the Wild won't be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. Another report claimed that extra time was needed for localization. Nintendo has not commented.

The Nintendo Switch console is slated to go on sale in March 2017. The console's price, specs, and launch lineup will be revealed during a video presentation slated for January 2017.

Earlier this year, a report claimed that Breath of the Wild, as well as Mario and Pokemon games, would be released for the Nintendo Switch within six months of its launch.

The next Mario game is Super Mario Run, which comes out in December for iOS devices. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's interview with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.
