Dark Works' ambitious resurrection of the Alone in the Dark franchise will likely be welcomed by most video game fans. The fourth installment features Edward Carnby, who is searching for the murderer of his best friend, Charles Fiske, who was found dead on Shadow Island. From the moment Edward steps on the island, mysterious things begin to happen and evil creatures begin to haunt him.

In the screenshots, you can see that the game will introduce a new character, Aline Cedrac, into the series. Her role in the game is still unknown, but we'll know more soon.

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is still set for a release in the spring of 2001, and it will appear on the PC, the PlayStation, the Dreamcast, and the Game Boy Color. The game will be published by Infogrames.
