New Mortal Kombat Movie Finds Its Sub-Zero
Joe Taslim from The Raid is your Sub-Zero.
With screenwriter Greg Russo confirming the existence of a new Mortal Kombat movie script back in February, fans are clamoring for more details about the forthcoming action flick. Though information is scarce, we've finally learned that recurring ninja Sub-Zero has been cast.
Actor and martial artist Joe Taslim (Fast & Furious 6, The Raid) will don Sub-Zero's black and blue ninja garb, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No other casting announcements have been made, as Taslim is the first to close a deal on the Mortal Kombat movie, THR reports. Further, no plot details have been divulged.
Aquaman co-writer James Wan (Annabelle Comes Home, The Conjuring 3) will produce, while Australian commercial director Simon McQuoid makes his feature-length directorial debut. The new Mortal Kombat movie is currently in pre-production, filming in Australia. The filming production, the largest South Australia has seen, is supposed to create 580 jobs and see $70 million AUD poured into local economy.
The new Mortal Kombat movie is expected to debut in theatres on March 5, 2021.
