Electronic Arts has major post-launch plans for its upcoming Need for Speed "full reboot." That's according to Ghost Games executive producer Marcus Nilsson, who declined to share specifics in a new interview, but did say the developer has "pretty significant" plans in place to keep the game fresh long after release.

"I want Need for Speed to modernize," Nilsson told VideoGamer. "I want Need for Speed to not feel like a November 3 title every year. I want it to be a game that people embrace, they keep it for longer and play it for longer, and that's something that Need for Speed needs to achieve because it's not happening right now."

Nillson went on to tease that Ghost Games is looking at "many other ways" beyond just extra car packs as a means to keep players engaged.

"We have pretty significant plans of what we think will work and I think the story that you see in this game can effectively help to keep you in there, as well as many other ways that we can refresh and renew content for you throughout," he said.

Need for Speed launches November 3 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Last week at Gamescom, EA released a new trailer for the game that highlights how the game will blend gameplay with live-action.

“We wanted to create a powerful story that's emotional but also pushes the boundaries of technology by adding real-time compositing to the power of Frostbite," Nilsson said at Gamescom. "This allows us, for the first time ever, to blend live-action film seamlessly with your in-game car and garage."

Ghost Games also recently explained why the new Need for Speed will require an Internet connection.
