New On Shudder In September 2021: Creepshow Season 3, Hispanic Horror, Carrie, Poltergeist

It's nearly September, and for horror fans that means only one thing: we're only a few weeks away from Halloween month. But before we get to that, Shudder has plenty of scary treats on the way to keep us entertained while we wait for our annual Halloween horror binge-watches.

Shudder's big September release is the return of its popular anthology show Creepshow. Season 3 will deliver 12 new spooky stories inspired by George Romero and Stephen King's 1982 movie, which in turn was influenced by creepy horror comics of the 1950s. Creepshow Season 3 premieres on Thursday, September 23, with a new episode dropping weekly.

In terms of new movies, there are three intriguing titles hitting the service in September. Superhost arrives on September 2 and focuses on a pair of vloggers whose popular show takes a dark turn. Martyrs Lane releases on September 9 and is a ghost story about a young girl in a spooky house, while September 29's Seance sees a group of high school girls summon something evil during a late-night ritual.

September is also Hispanic Heritage Month, and Shudder will be highlighting a season of horror movies from Latinx filmmakers that can already be found on the platform. These include some acclaimed recent movies such as the Oscar-nominated La Llorona, Good Manners, Terrified, and Tigers Are Not Afraid.

Finally, there's also a variety of must-watch catalog horror hitting Shudder in September. Highlights include the classic Stephen King adaptation Carrie, legendary haunted house movies The Haunting and Poltergeist, Abel Ferrara's exploitation favorite Ms. 45, and four movies in the cult Phantasm series.
