New Overwatch Hero, Orisa, Goes Live Today
She won't be available in Competitive Play just yet, though.
Overwatch's new hero, Orisa, goes live on public servers today--that's for all players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
However, she "will not initially be available for Competitive Play," as developer Blizzard wants to allow players "some time to learn about and play Orisa before she's placed into the crucible of Competitive Play." She'll still be playable in Quick Play, the Arcade, and Play vs. AI in the meantime.
Orisa is a Tank-class character centered mainly designed to protect her team. Her weapon is the Fusion Driver, an automatic cannon that deals constant damage but slows her movement speed. The alternate fire is Halt, which launches a charge that she can detonate to slow enemies and pull them towards the explosion.
Her abilities include Fortify, which reduces the damage she takes and makes her immune to "action-impairing effects;" and Protective Barrier, a stationary shield that can be deployed to block enemy attacks. Her Ultimate is Supercharger, which launches a device that buffs damage done by any teammates in its line of sight.
Orisa has been available on Overwatch's test server, the PTR, on PC for weeks already. She's already been tweaked once--her weapon damage and Ultimate both got nerfed--and she'll likely get more balance changes as players get to grips with her new abilities. Find out more about her powers and take a look at some of her skins here.
The PTR had its own update go live on March 20, bringing significant changes to Lucio and his ability to help and heal nearby teammates. Put simply, the changes buff many of Lucio's abilities but limit his ability to aid his entire team at any one time. Find out more information about his alterations here.
