New PS2, PSP models revealed

I want a Crisis Core PSP damnit!

been there done that, already got a slim ps2 and psp.

So what's different about this new PS2 besides the AC adaptor? It looks just like the slim one already out. The PSP is cool, but I got my Crisis Core one thank you :)

It's like they're not even trying anymore. New colors? I hear this "new" PS2 model will also run on electricity.

Isn't this a waste of resources? I mean, they could just be using the current model of the PS2, couldn't they? I see no reason to make yet another iteration of it. It's just silly to me. And it's not necesarilly a new PSP model, just a red one in new packaging. I'm surprised Sony isn't putting more focus on their PS3 than their PS2.

i might buy a new ps2, since i got rid of my old one. cheap games!!! (with a 360 and i just bought a wii, i cant afford 50-60 dollar games all the time)

Red is my favorite color. I would love to have the Deep Red PSP. Or DS. Whichever comes to the US first.

Aside from the foolish Ketchup and Mustard (Spiderman & Simpson's) PSPs in Europe, darn good thinking to pick a new color. Does this mean the demise of the Bloom Colors? Only sales will tell. Deep red, though? If they made it a Castlevania graphic set like Star Wars, it would sell like crazy.

This is all fine & dandy, but Sony should really shift its attention & its resources to the PlayStation 3 instead.

Spider-Man is old. Get something more better. The red psp looks great and a white PS2 looks cool as well. Maybe they should try to remake the PS2 to have maybe better graphics or something.

If sony wants the PS3 to be successful they need to stop this "the PS2 is still awesome" crap. They need to start indorcing the PS3s and they should make an anouncement that they are starting to decrease production and eventually stop making it all together. Like the original XBOX.

i wonder how many ppl still haven't owned a ps2, YET!anyway at least their making profit out of it, until ps3 gets a bigger install base and ps2 will be owned by everybody, even babies will have one in their crib with a 20" LCD Bravia tv.LOLz

Oh, I think that new ps2 would be even smaller, like a cd player now, but it is still amazing they got the ac adapter in there. It is just not that big a change since the ac adapter never really got in the way. Still cool though.

Hmm... Well its good to see that they actually WERE working on a new PS2, although its not actually any smaller than the current model, the AC adaptor IS built inside now, which was part of the rumor... The new PSP color looks temtping, but seeing as how its still a shot in the dark as to whether its ever gonna find its way across the Pacific, I'm not worried about it TOO much at this point...

hazuki. Somehow I don't think that Sony "has" to continue with the PS2, but they'd be crazy not too. It's still a huge seller, with an installed base of 120 million. They'll stop selling it when people stop buying it. You know. Like MS did with the original Xbox! And for all you bot's that are sure to shriek "But no one buys the PS3! What about that?" calm yourselves and check the numbers. The PS3 is selling just as well as the 360 did from it's launch, and no one was predicting the "doom" of the 360 when it sold 5.8 million in their first year. At 5.45 million consoles moved, the PS3 should hit that number by the end of the month making it on par with the sales of the 360 from the start.. (www.vgchartz.com)

This is pretty much proof that Sony only relies their profit on older products. People say "Oh, PS3 has to be doing well because Sony's making a profit in their entertainment division, right?" But they don't realize that PS2 is still the [only] pillar for their profit division.

With the 40 gig having no backwards compatibility, and being sonys new major ps3 model, sony basically has to continue the ps2 hardware production. But as for these new models hitting america? Don't bet on it. Scea basically never releases different colors in america. Though the new ps2 will probably make it here, in a core package.

sounds like Sony's getting a hold of things, with their better commercial campaigns and things like this, are attracting more sales.

musicaz70 in japan the ps2 is in third place, in home consoles its Wii, Ps3, Ps2, 360, so it is still making money, sony is also 2nd place in the handheld, with it being DS lite , PsP and i think the normal ds or gameboy is in third

I really just don't get it... I can't see anything productive come out of the new redesign for the ps2... Call me ignorant but can someone please fill me in on some good reasons? (And no I'm not trying to sound like an ass, I'm serious, I really am wondering why they would do this...)

hmmmm....while they still "reassure" us that the ps2 still has unrealized potential, i dont see why they would do this. grasping at straws? the psp, ok cool. new ps2 style.....why? is the ps3 really doing THAT badly?
