New PS2, PSP models revealed

i still play my ps2 since i've got a few favs plus you can get a lot of games really cheap now, but they ought to let it go out gracefully. there's no need for a redesign at this point. this news reminds me of the story the surfaced a few months ago about the ps2 motion sensor controllers (the ones that looked like pokeballs). ¬_¬

even though i have a 360, but i still have over 200+ games for ps2, so i'm most likely would go and pick up this new ps2, along with that nice psp.

I will probably pick up the new PS2 eventually as a backup for my launch day model. Poor thing can`t last forever and since I won`t pick up a PS3 until they have AT LEAST 36 different models to choose from (so next wednesday at the current rate of speed) and include hardware emulation for BC ( joke! I joke!)

If they bring a Spider-Man PSP over to the US i'm going to get pissed!!!! cause I just bought the Slim.... The Deep Red Looks BEAUTIFUL!

When do consoles need a third model, and who really what's a PSP?

I love how people say there are no games for the PS3. There are over 70 titles for it. And the dev's are too lazy to actually spend quality time to create a good game, because alls they want is the money. And if anyone here hasn't realized yet, its only been out for a year.

ivanfred, Why would you want to listen to music saved on the drive while playing a game? That's like playing music saved on the drive while watching a movie! ...and what should Sony improve on the PS3?

Another PS2 model, seems like Sony cares more about this than the PS3(for now). I'm not buying it, most people have a PS2 anyways.

i'm just going to get the starwars psp bundle, its a better deal, i would get the daxter bundle but i already have daxter and a 4gb memory card. as for the ps2, thats cool, but i'll play ps2 games on my ps3 if i want, plus i have an old ps2.

Um...that PS2 doesn't look much different from the one I've already got...aside from the internal AC adapter. So why would anyone with a slimline waste their money on that? Seriously? And the PSP...they are still making those? I thought only Nintendo made handheld systems. Oh, no...wait...Nintendo only makes GOOD handheld systems. That's right.

I don't get it, People are still buying last gen console even though they suck. Why don't they just buy a 360, or a ps3, or even a Wii? But oh no! They want the outdated seven year old machines that work like junk now.

I like the red PSP. Scoff at me if you want. But I must agree with the other Gamespot members who stated that Sony should concentrate on improving the PS3. I just bought a 60 gig and would like to see some features added to it, such as the ability to listen to music saved on the drive while playing a game.

Work on PS3, not PS2.

This is sad, they take the PS2 and slap a new coat paint on it. Do something with that system called the PS3, jeez how is the Wii beating the PS3, Improve that before you improve your last gen system. I'm stickin to PC and 360 Gaming.

ps2 doesn't look much different, kinda weird to do this to an old system... oh well. psp is nice though.

Sony, seriously, quit remoduling the same old hardware, get off your lazy butts, and make some new games. Quit burning the PS3 owners by neglecting to give them anything to run on their new systems. The PS2 is great, don't get me wrong, but that system has tons of content built up for it and right now your losing money because you aren't bother to back up your current investment, the PS3.

The red PSP is cool,I would actually buy that.But whoever would buy the PS2 now is cheap because the last-gen is OVER!!!!Sony is trying to manipulate non-gamers into last-gen gaming for some more cash.Buy a 360,PS3,or Wii,but remodeling the PS2 just shows Sony's desperation at this moment.Want something remodeled?Try a 360 Elite or Halo edition,not a remodeled last-gen system.

A new PS2? That's all they seem to be doing: improving their products rather than the stuff that goes on them. Just give the PSP a second analog stick for gosh sake.

Sony stop recolouring the PSP and actually add some new features to it! I hate how on the slim all they did was make the battery smaller and all that. They had the chance to get ahead in the market, but no, bad move Sony. PS2 really does look good considering I still have the original fat one. This would be perfect for trips or whatever.

The PSP looks more like something to hang around your neck....Hey, don't yell at me, I have a GB Micro on a chain, and I'm ok with that. But that PS2 is pretty sexy, you have to admit. Even if it does mean SCE's PR is hypocritical by removing BC for PS3 sales and making new PS2 designs at the same design. If it weren't for my 60 GB EE PS3, I'd search my wallet for one of these new ones.

That's one hideous looking PSP. Anyways, I'm not picking up one till Crisis Core next March.

These new models are enticing to say the least. I hope they bring the new PS2 and the Deep Red PSP to the states. It seems quite profitable, especially since the PS2 has been strong in sales for some time now.

Sorry for the double post. But it's also very strange that there is no U.S. plans announced. I'd be very surprised if this is a UK and Japan-only thing.
