Paramount Pictures have released the newest trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and announced a special event where fans can see the movie before it releases for everyone else.

The Opening Day Fan Event, as it's called, takes place in theaters on Thursday, December 19, with screenings beginning at 3 PM local time. The catch here is that this early screening period is for premium formats only, including Dolby Cinema, 4DX, DBOX, and ScreenX. The movie releases in all formats for everyone else on December 20.

Fans can visit the "See It First" website to find a participating theater and buy tickets. Tickets for all showings are now on sale, too.

The fan event screening includes behind-the-scenes footage and limited-edition gifts, including one of four different character keychains and a 12"x18" art print.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 introduces the mysterious villain Shadow, voiced by Keanu Reeves. Jim Carrey returns as Robotnik, while Ben Schwartz is back as the voice of Sonic. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, and Lee Majdoub also return. Reeves isn't the only new cast member to join the third movie, as Krysten Ritter and Alyla Browne also have roles in the film.

Oscar-nominated director Jeff Fowler, who directed the first two Sonic movies, returns in the same role for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
