New Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Game Reportedly Being Made Without BioWare

Long have i waited.....for the release of kotor III

Pretty sure anyone who was involved with original already left Bioware.

I want a new game, but I would love a remaster. I never got to play the original when it was released and it's hard for me to get into it due to the graphics now.

Knights 3, I'm in! Love the first 2.....I do not care who makes it, just hope it will be worth the wait!

So it means it's gonna be a turd. Maybe similar to ME Andromeda. I wonder how EA suddenly came to the conclusion that it would be a good idea to put inexperienced developer teams to work on their biggest brands.

Now other companies has the chance to make a game using the SW licence.

We have competition finally and this can only mean good.

Right now (like it or not) EA with Respawn did a pretty good job with the Fallen Order...will be pretty tough to beat them.

Unless ones try to make a Star Wars in another genre...why not a full blown rpg like (japanese style)Dragon Quest(yeah,wishfull thinking that one) or keep the Kotor formula(with modern gamedesign and mechanics) or something made from Larian?

Would Star Wars fit in a genre similar to Diablo,Torchlight,Path of Exile?

A podracing game done by experienced devs(Turn 10,Playground).

Or Volleyball...yes,Star Wars Extreme Volleyball...eww...now that sounds silly lol...or not...in Japan at least 😉😂

I would like to see Larian doing it. But I guess they are too busy with Baldur's Gate 3, and maybe a sequel to Divinity: Original Sin 2.

What would be nice is for the wonderful people who made the original KOTOR to get back together (as many as possible) and make KOTOR 3. Obviously I'm not talking about the current Bioware, but the Bioware from 20 years ago. I've played KOTOR so many times, I can't count. It's rare that a game is that good. I hope they can create that kind of similar magic like in the original.

Theyd be stupid NOT to make a new KOTOR. Every Star Wars game fan I know, absolutely would pay for a 3rd installment. The sequel was sadly a little unfinished, so it'd be awesome to get a full fledged modern star wars RPG.

I've been bitching all over the internet for a KOTOR 3 game for years. And in their current Anthem state, I don't want Bioware to even write a line of code in it. But giving one of the best licenced franchises to an unknown studio doesn't sound hopeful. Is this another case of watch what you wish for?

I can't help but feel that this will just be a cash grab with myriad microtransactions attached pulling on the appeal of two great games from yesteryear. As much as I want this to be a talking point for the next decade I'm not holding my breath just yet.

Also, I wonder if this is the Star Wars game Ubisoft is working on.

I hope not, because allegedly that Ubisoft game is supposed to be open world and that would not lend itself well to the epic storytelling the KOTOR series is known for.

So not even a publisher? Yeah, I'll keep my enthusiasm to a minimum. There's a huge probability that this isn't real, and another that it'll be a huge, flaming dumpster fire.

I had a blast and memorable times testing Star Wars Galaxies.

Good bet that when the developer is announced it would be a new studio started by a bunch of ex-realBioware people.

The only way this has a chance is if EA, Bioware, and Ubisoft are NOT involved.

It's going to be difficult enough just because Disney is involved.

At this point, I'm not sure anyone could capture that lightning in a bottle again. Similar to Baldur's Gate 3, I'm sure it can be a great game whenever it comes out, but it's not going to reach the greatness of the previous games.

There seems to be a whole lot of speculation here. I'll refrain from jumping up and down gleefully until we have actual confirmation. 😀

I'd have thought Disney would want any new Star Wars games to time into the "High Republic" era of Star Wars they're currently pushing.

Great news, don't want to see them turn this into another fad chasing clone of another game.

Almost all of Bioware's talent left years ago anyway, this is a good thing.

Good cause Bioware sucks, just keep it away from the people who made Cyberpunk lol. Why not give it back to Obsidian?
