New Star Wars Movie Starring Rey Won't Be Called This - Report
The rise of rumors.
While we won't tell you the odds, a new report says there is one particular title that won't be attached to the Star Wars movie focusing on Rey--Episode X: A New Beginning. Apparently rumors have been swirling about that name being used for the film.
Cinelinx editor Jordan Maison posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he confirmed with his sources at Lucasfilm that the upcoming Star Wars movie with Rey won't be called A New Beginning. Currently the film, which will see the return of actress Daisy Ridley, is under development with the placeholder title New Jedi Order.
Can confirm, with info directly from Lucasfilm that reports of the Rey-centric #StarWars movie being titled ‘Episode X: A New Beginning’ is “categorically incorrect.”

The Rey film was one of three Star Wars announced in April 2023. Helmed by award-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel, Saving Face), the project takes place after The Rise of Skywalker and will focus on Rey starting a new Jedi Order. While originally it was thought that this movie would come out first, it's now known the next Star Wars movie is The Mandalorian & Grogu in 2026.
Earlier this year, Ridley talked about how this Star Wars movie goes in a "different direction." The actress obviously didn't drop any specific details but added she got excited after learning about the project's narrative. Ridley believes "it's a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world."
While a new Star Wars movie won't arrive for a couple of years, there are a few Disney+ series on the way much sooner. For instance, The Acolyte is reported to possibly debut in June while Andor Season 2 could arrive by the end of the year.
