The patch also (thankfully) makes the subtitles bigger.

Obsidian Entertainment has announced a new patch is scheduled to release for The Outer Worlds next week. In a blog post, Obsidian social media manager "Shyla" released the full patch notes and wrote, "[Obsidian] will continue to work on updates and patches."

"This patch is currently in the testing phase and as long as no other issues occur during this time, we hope to release it to you all sometime next week," Shyla wrote. "Please be aware that this can change, but we are working hard to make this timeline and things are looking good thus far."

Now Playing: The Outer Worlds Video Review

This upcoming update, Patch 1.1.1.0, primarily addresses several bugs in The Outer Worlds, but it also implements a few gameplay changes too--the most notable of which is an increase in font size for subtitles. It may not seem like much, but The Outer Worlds' subtitles are currently very small, and it can be difficult to see them if you're not right next to your screen. The full list of changes is below.

The Outer Worlds Patch 1.1.1.0 Bug Fixes & Gameplay Changes

  • The crashing issue in Tartarus
  • Increase Font Size - Conversations/Subtitles
  • Muffled sound effects occur at random times for players on the PS4
  • Companions dying and failing companion quests on modes other than Supernova
  • Unable to finish "Radio Free Monarch"
  • Trophy "Not the Best Choice" fails to unlock properly

In GameSpot's The Outer Worlds review, Edmond Tran wrote, "I finished The Outer Worlds wanting more, eager to jump back into the world to see extra things. It's not a short game, but it's one packed with such a steady stream of wonderful characters to meet, interesting places to explore, and meaningful, multi-layered quests to solve, that it didn't feel like there was any room to get tired of it. I wanted to rewind the clock and do everything in a completely different way. The Outer Worlds is consistently compelling throughout, and it's a superb example of how to promote traditional RPG sensibilities in a sharp, modern experience."

Hope they don't lose their way like bethesda. Good luck obsidian. Here's something more about the game if you are interested <a href=https://theanxiousgamer.blog/2019/11/11/quirkiness-meets-fun-to-offer-a-meaningful-experience-in-the-outer-world/">The Outer Worlds</a>

loved the game, thought it was perfect, plattied the game after 7 days and loved every second, did everything, found everything in supernova and had no bugs or issues.

it was perfect imo. <3 obsidian.

edit: well, there was one minor niggle in the story department, concerning trophies and playstyle. but other then that, it was perfect :D

It’s a great game, but there are definitely a lot of little things I would change. The map cursor moves so damn slowly and snaps to fast travel points way too strongly, causing you to have to zoom way in to pick the right spot sometimes. I don’t like having to leave a town and sit through a load screen before I can fast travel (and sit through another load screen) to another location. It would be nice if the inventory/map/character button would either remember which tab you were on last, or just go straight to the map, instead of always going to inventory. There’s just a lot of stuff that is standard in most games like this now, that they seem to have glossed over. I do like that it’s only about 20-30 hours long. Not every game needs to be 50-100 hours.

So where the hell are the Xbox One X Anisotropic filtering and grass fixes? For a Microsoft owned studio they are focusing more on Sony which is pathetic and an insult.

@deviltaz35: Not much incentive, is there? Everyone playing the game on the MS side are doing it via $1 Game Pass subs, plus you have to remember this is a 2K project. They're officially quarterbacking this one.

@Barighm: So why did Microsoft buy the studio if they couldn't even get the rights to this? Anyway i gave up on the crap Xbox one X version and downloaded it on PC gamepass instead. I've seen quite a few decent mods already for PC graphics that significantly make it look better.

I think you are right , i doubt they fix the X graphics and performance issues. Why bother when Microsoft don't even give a crap about the Xbox One X.

This game is uncharacteristically bug free. So uncommon nowadays.

This game would have been so much better if they worked on it another year, no romance options is really disapointing.

@uubershikamarux: It's already shockingly bug free (ish). That's well beyond your average big budget game. It really couldn't have gotten that much better without expanding its scope beyond what it is meant to be.
