New Westworld Trailer Is Explosive and Mysterious
Westworld comes to TV on October 2.
With the debut of HBO's highly anticipated sci-fi/western Westworld now just a few days away, the network has released the newest teaser that provides a fresh glimpse at the show.
The 30-second trailer, titled "Maeve & Dolores," sees Maeve questioning the mysteries of her life. "One moment I'm with a little girl, and the next I'm in a different life," she says, as the video cuts to sequences of her character in Westworld and at the mysterious lab created by Anthony Hopkins' character.
Maeve, played by Crash's Thandie Newton, is one of the humanoids created by Hopkins' character that populates Westworld. She says in the video that she's realizing she's not human and that the world around her is not all it seems. In the final sequence, she's pointing a gun at Ed Harris' character, The Man in Black, as she says, "Time to write my own story."
We also see James Marsden's character manning a gatling gun, apparently firing at a train. There is a big explosion and the video then cuts to Evan Rachel Wood's character, Dolores, firing a pistol on horseback. It all looks very dramatic and compelling.
Westworld is produced by Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and Jonathan Nolan, who co-wrote several of brother Christopher's movies, including The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. The high-profile cast also includes Jeffrey Wright (Casino, The Hunger Games) and Jimmi Simpson (House of Cards, The Newsroom).
Westworld is a reimagining of the 1973 Michael Crichton-directed movie of the same name. The show premieres on October 2, 2016.
A behind-the-scenes trailer featuring insight from the show's creators was released earlier this week and can be seen here.
