New Xbox One Ad Says XBL Is "The Gaming Network That Won't Let You Down"

Marshawn Lynch stars in this new TV spot.

Microsoft released a silly new Xbox One ad today in which former NFL star Marshawn Lynch is an assistant of sorts, though he doesn't seem like a very good one.

More notable from this commercial (via DualShockers) is the claim that Xbox Live is "the network that won't let you down." This appears to be a dig at Sony's PlayStation Network. A third-party report earlier this year stated that Xbox Live is faster and more reliable than the PlayStation Network.

The PS4 outsold the Xbox One in the United States in November, according to the NPD Group. This broke Microsoft's win streak that started in the summer.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One are currently marked down to $250 as part of limited-time price cuts.

What do you make of the new Xbox One ad? Let us know in the comments below!

It should say "The gaming network that won't give you good current gen exclusive games".

Truth in advertising.

Hm it's definitely the better network when compared to Sony, but saying "it never lets you down" is a bit misleading...

@ivanov70: Yes, it says it all, it says that you need to see why you have such low downloading speeds. Both me and the friends I play with download with approximately 10mb/s constantly, so there's either something wrong with your connection, or with your playstation, maybe take it back if it's still in warranty.

Wow why are so many people upset in this thread? Microsoft's network (which includes XBL services/cloud) operate on the Microsoft Azure platform. It's one of the worlds largest data services. They have more servers than sony and nintendo put together. This isn't "bias" or a "conspiracy" it's a well known fact in the tech world

@nativepixel: People are upset because they have the nerve to say "it never lets you down" when the servers are often "down"... It's not about comparing it to the others, maybe PSN and nintendo are down even more, but at least they don't brag about the network never being down...

@wrestlingdude: "The gaming network that never lets you down"? What do you think it suggests? Obviously they won't say "the network is never down" because then they would be sued, so they use this awesome technique where you can't be sued but you can still say misleading stuff... Microsoft are pros at fooling people...

@livedreamplay: So is Sony. They're both corporations. They all have dirty little secrets and hidden puns. Now if you can't understand that, then I don't know why I'm even communicating with you. Respectfully.

@wrestlingdude: Maybe Sony tries it once in a while and they get sued like it happened with PS Vita, but MS are the ones that do it constantly. I've worked in marketing and it's very easy to spot those misleading strategies.

Back in 2000 sony scoffed at the idea of online play, once Xbox live took off they quickly cobbled together psn with one important difference, sony pays Amazon and rackspace to host psn while ms owns their own scalable servers so how could you deny the obvious?.

@ivanov70: Nobody denies that Xbox has better servers, but saying the network 'never lets you down' when it's often 'down' is pretty pathetic...

Even if it was true (its not source) both the article and MS fails to acknowledge the difference in online traffic, if MS has roughly HALF the PSN users it is obvious that it has a lot more bandwidth to work with...

I hate when companies lie through their teeth and people follow like brainless sheep. You can enjoy your xbox or PS for whatever reason and thats fine but to have unconditional support for ANY company is dumb and makes you a idiot sheep fanboy!

@nadsat-77: Microsoft has more xbox user using the online service than playstation does...... Microsoft has roughly 45 million users to Sony's 22 million users.

For the amount of Sony fanboys in this thread, there is a lot of insecurity in here.

@FLOPPAGE_50: Well with how succesful the PS4 was, the xbox fanboys need to grasp at anything they can get at this point, so they're bound to trigger the PS ones...

If Netgear router owners don't hurry up and update their firmware ASAP, this whole "whose network/console is better" BS won't matter one bit. There will be enough new botnet-owned systems that we'll see another repeat of previous Xmas DDoS attacks.

Take this seriously: If you own a Netgear home router (or anyone, really), go to your admin page (probably 192.168.1.1), and find the "upgrade firmware" option. As of a few days ago, a remotely exploitable vulnerability known since August was released to the public, and it's already being mass-exploited.

(end PSA... you can resume petty console war bickering)

Microsoft should be last to start trash talk like this because everyone knows how under-powered X1 really is and is a huge let down. They have been continuously beaten month after month in terms of sales by Sony. So, until Xbox Scorpio releases, Microsoft please shut your mouth!
