New Xbox One Update Testers Getting Special Gift, Xbox Boss Teases
"We might have something in store for Preview folks who helped us so much."
Microsoft has teased that it will hand out a special gift to the Preview Program members who helped test the New Xbox One Experience during its multi-month trial period. Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra, the man partially in charge of the New Xbox One Experience, made the tease recently on Twitter.
"We might have something in store for Preview folks who helped us so much," Ybarra said to a fan who asked if Preview Program members might get perks like early access to upcoming backwards-compatible Xbox 360 games.
He specifically said "no" when asked if Preview Program members will get early access to backwards-compatible games such as Gears of War 3, codes for which start going out on December 1, but didn't share any further details about what the gift might be.
The New Xbox One Experience, which includes a major overhaul of the UI and introduces backwards compatibility support for Xbox 360 titles (see the first 104 support games here), arrives on November 12. The update also removes support for Kinect gesture controls because usage was "very low."
Check back with GameSpot later this week for lots more on the New Xbox One Experience.
