Will possibly the most famous video game horse ever, Epona from The Legend of Zelda, appear in Breath of the Wild? That remains to be seen, it seems.

According to Game Informer's new cover story on the long-awaited RPG, which was published today, she may not be available to ride, though it's possible she's still in the game. Game Informer reported, "Link's trusty steed Epona does not join him in Breath of the Wild. Instead, you must find and tame horses. The stronger the horse, the more difficult it is to tame."

Now Playing: GS News Update: Is Epona In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

Not Epona
Not Epona

In January, series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that Epona is indeed in Breath of the Wild. However, Aonuma made a teasing, mysterious comment about her. "I do not want to reveal details about how to find her, or what that means," he said at the time.

By some means, perhaps Epona is in Breath of the Wild but cannot be ridden. Or maybe she appears in some other way. We have contacted Nintendo in attempt to get more details.

Breath of the Wild comes out on March 3 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. The game is also coming to the Wii U on the same day--it is potentially the last first-party game for the console.
