NewsSpots: Ubisoft on PS3, SOE Fan Faire, Namco Museum Wii, BioWare talent search

The fact that this company made most of their games for the original xbox which had a much much smaller user install base shows that this company is only capable of grogramming for xbox. They did some ps2 porting and every single one of them was a disaster. So coming to this generation, it's reasonably to assume then that even if Sony has a bigger install base to Xbox360 with a ratio of 2 to 1, UBiSoft would still make games for xbox360 first and make half a** port. Anyone care to disagree?

Wow, fanboy alert! No worries though,I am sure Sony will survive this disaster of a console release. The real questions are: 1) When are they going to drop the price 2) What will they do with the PS4 in 10 years?

Sony clearly doesn't give a rats ass about non Japanese 3rd party developers and publishers. We simply have to wait for Square, Capcom, Namco et al. to show their stuff. And yes, a PS3 is too expensive. Anyone who says otherwise is too rich and should write me check so that I can buy a PS3.

First off i own every system ever made..only 2 systems i dont own is the XBOX 360. I have everything from ATARI to PS3 skipping the 360. Not worth the money. this CEO of UBISOFT doesnt know anything...SIMPLE IF YOU WANT A PS3 DONT WAIT FOR A PRICE DROP...GET A JOB!!!!!!!! I got 2 PS3's and i work a 9-5. I go out too. How did i get the money. I saved up. Now for the CEO to say that about sony to me sounds like he is just trying to hide the facts that XBOX 360 is getting the upper hand in the UBISOFT COMPANY. If you asked me i'd say MS and UBISOFT are working together. Think about this. WHY SELL: -720p game on the PS3 (PS3 takes 1080p) -Downgrade the Frame Rates of the games for the PS3 version -Release the PS3 version 5 months after the 360 version without making anything worth the PS3 basically giving Microsoft the upper hand at selling more copies of that game on the 360. INSTEAD OF BLAMING SONY TRY DOING THIS -Making 1st party games -Making port games to meet "PS3 STANDARDS" meaning 1080p, take up more blu ray room, great frame rates, etc. -Learn from FACTOR 5's saying "Make a PS3 version of the game first and porting it on to the 360 will be easier, instead of having a hard time to port the PS3 version so you release the game months later and not worth the price tag you put on it" And believe me, Once games like LAIR, KILLZONE, SOCOM, MGS4, GTA IV come out people will see what console is the BEST. And that is the PLAYSTATION 3. Already FACTOR 5 said LAIR isnt a port to 360 because it literally cannot be made on the 360 because the 360 does not have the resources. GTA IV has said that so far the 360 is giving Rockstar problems to make the game on the 360 because of the very limited resources (lets just hope they dont mess up the PS3 version with a port considering it is only fair to make each version standard to each system and considering the PS3 is better than the 360 dont hate and just make the PS3 version better). So within a year people will see what system is better. Which one lasts longer. I have met so many OLDER ADULTS who bought a PS3 this month because they gave up on how the 360 breaks. And for this CEO to tell people that SONY has to drop the price because it wont sell its ridiculous and he is just trying to cover up the bad ports for the PS3 that were made months after the 360. Its like saying MERCEDES BENZ wont sell more cars than FORD because of the price tag. Hello too bad people love quality and not quantity. Smart people atleast. I rather trust my hands into people who answered what i needed in a console and games within 3 different systems. Not a company that only has good software and horrible hardware from the gateway computers to the xbox 360. People buy what you want. My money is on PS3. And actually a Wii also because of the classic NES games. But dont listen to this CEO. He is definitly a XBOX FANBOY. Considering all the ports of games from UBISOFT are horrible for every system except the 360 3 games in a row. ALL TOM CLANCY games and first party titles also.

i think the console gaming is becoming more and more popular because the kind of resources dedicated in a console for the sole purpose of gaming, pc is multitasking machine that is why there will always be the problem of inefficient utilization of resources for a single task........... and offcourse another major drawback is the upgradation issue.....

Once again i see the is the pc a gaming device or not argument come up :D dont get me wrong i love my pc i even got command and conquer 3 on pc instead of xbox 360 because of how much easier it is to control. I also agree pc online is STILL the best online service, however the reason pcs are not considered gaming machines still is system specs every pc owner has different specs so some games will run on your system some wont for you to upgrade your pc EVERY time some new pc thing ie graphics card/more memory etc... comes out would end up costing more then next gen systems as theres always new bits coming out this is ,atleast imo why pcs are not considered gaming devices as xbox 360/ps3/wii no matter how many people own them they will ALL run same games and do same things pcs wont

the only reason why ps3 even has a chance is because it has the playstation name, the playstation name might just be enough to come out on top no matter what the competitors do.

I don't see it where they say ditch blu-ray and more so, I see them saying bring the price down. "sony should just suck it up and drop the price. seeing as their cheapest model is 500, and their cheapest competitor's 250, they need to make at least a $100 price drop, maybe $200" Problem with that is, they're already losing almost 400 dollars per system with a current sale. To just drop the price without recieving any lower manufacturing costs would be suicidal.

It has always been about the relative complexity of making it work and whether or not a person actually knows anything about PC hardware and how to use a search engine properly... People like to be lazy and they always make excuses like "I dont have time to learn" which is a load of dung.

blah, blah... Developers should be more cautious when making this comments... the PS3 may not decrease in $ for a while... manufacturing prices have to come down first... This is a very negative approach IMO. This should be left to consumers as it DOES send a very strong delicate message which could be interpreted that developers may withdraw some of their support to the console...

I think this is the first time a publisher has called for a console price drop. I severely doubt that anything will come from this, though.

As far as just about everyone that visits this website is concerned, Blue Dragon is not out. Now you can just sit here and talk to yourself if you would like to but I'm not gonna argue with you about this anymore. Whats up with people and redefining words. A game is out when it's possible to get the game and currently it's possible to get the game (japanese version). Why don't you rather learn 2 say that "the game is not out in US" or maybe "it's only out in Japan"? There are quite a few europeans readers as well you know, so for them US releases would be irrelevant too. Just because a page is in english doesn't label it "USA only". Geez.

HOW ABOUT THIS CEO DOES THIS SIMPLE STEPS... -Stop Selling 360 Downgraded Ports 5 months after Release on the PS3 - Make a game version on the PS3 (i.e. Rainbow 6 Vegas) worth the PS3 potential (i.e. 1080p and use more room on the Blu Ray Disc to make a solid nice game) -Stop saying Sony PS3 sales are bad for your company. Becuase once LAIR, KILLZONE, SOCOM, MGS4, GTA IV, come out people will see how much SH** your UBISOFT COMPANY and THE CEO OF UBISOFT is full of. - OH YEAH AND DID I MENTION... PS3 QUALITY NOT A 360 VERSION DOWNGRADED EVEN MORE ON THE FRAME RATE FOR THE PS3 AND SOLD 5 MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE ON THE 360 WITH NOTHING TO MAKE IT WORTH BUYING BUT ACTUALLY EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT NOT WORTH BUYING. THE REASON WHY UBISOFT holds out on the PS3 version 5 months after its release on the 360 is this. They then make a lower cr**py quality port onto the PS3 and only produce a quarter of the games the would usually do for the PS3 because they dont want to lose money in production. As for the more worse frame rates, the non-1080p but actually 720p graphics, and the 5 month delay in the very very very very very bad 360 port to what is a "PS3 version" (bull Sh** )...they have the nerve to blame SONY for the reason their games dont sell. I REALLY HOPE SONY SCREWS OVER UBISOFT BY NOT PROMOTING THEIR GAMES AND THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL IS IF UBISOFT MAKES 2 EXCLUSIVE 10 out of 10 GAMES A YEAR. i own both the ps3 and xbox360 .. i only boot my ps3 when i want to check an SD card or thursday update check. seems to me that the ps3 is directed more into the living room while the xbox360 is games only device. (my usage). Blu-ray is pretty good

Ministry4390 Barom, I think you're confused. It was released in Japan. It has not been released anywhere else. It comes out in the US in August. If it's been released in Japan it means it's out. I don't see why a US release concludes whether it's out or not. I'll be honest I didn't know Blue Dragon only came out in Japan but even if I did I wouldn't change my statement.

Yes, the PS3 needs a price drop. Only the most ardent fanboys would think otherwise. Here are some neat little facts: 1. The Xbox360 has outperformed the PS3 in the same timeframe (ie, first 6 months). 2. The Xbox360 has outsold the PS3 2-to-1 stateside since the PS3 launch. 3. Every console priced over $300 has failed. 4. Traditionally, consoles enjoy their best sales at the $200 price point (and below). It's obvious the PS3 is going to lose a ton of marketshare the PS2 had. $600 is just too expensive to be a mainstream product.

the only people who dont think the PS3 doesnt need a price drop are the people who were stupid enough to pay the full price for it, £425 is way too much. I only paid £279 for my PS3 bundle and im kinda disappointed with it, i play my 360 much more.

Ubisoft will make PS3 exclusives when it is financially adventageous to do so. That will not be true until ps3 sales approach at least a few million stateside. Big expensive games require hundreds of thousands of sales to make a profit. Since most games only sell in large quantities within months of their release (when there is hype), it would be financially stupid to relsease a big budget ps3 exclusive at this time. Ubisoft realizes this, and will not be making any big budget ps3 exclusives until sony drops the price and people actually start buying the console (in the millions).

Hahaha.... I am very happy. I have an awesome machine..... its a console not an art piece, it needs to be used and now there just isn't anything, IMO, remotely interesting on it. There is absolutely no reason for me to buy a PS3, let alone want one and determine whether or not I'll spend that much. There is lots of powerful hardware out there. If you're happy with "potential" and not "actual" games, buy a PC.

You forgot about Fable 2, Too Human, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Wolfenstein, Eternal Sonata, Forza Motorsport 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Halo Wars, PGR 4, Splinter Cell 5, and Hour of Victory. Plus there are the X360/PC exclusives like Bioshock, Shadowrun, Overlord, Marvel Universe Online, Monster Madness and Alan Wake. I gotta give it to you, you're right. Except for the part about me forgettin them, I simply didn't know about them save for perhaps Blue Dragon which I didn't include because it was already out.

ps3 and xbox 360 both have their strengths, but the ps3 isnt actually more powerful. It has bluray and guaranteed hard drive space but is actually less effeciently designed than the xbox 360

Ubisoft has to put more effort on the PS3(and everyone should do that, use the PS3's potential), that's all, just like Bethesda did with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. however, Ubi prefers to do like Sierra did with F.E.A.R. on PS3...it's not Sony's fault, it's not the PS3's fault, but their fault. i don't think Sony should lower the price. PS3 has Blu-ray, Wi-fi built-in, Cell, HDMI, etc, so it is a machine, a great system! see, if you put these things on Xbox360, it would be much more expensive than the PS3. the problem is that people don't see it! i bought my PS3 and i'm very happy and glad i bought it, because i have an awesome system. nothing against Xbox360, wich is an awesome system too, but I prefer Sony PS3, that's just my opinion. i know that the Xbox360 has more games(including exclusives), but it's one year "ahead" from the PS3. however, the PS3 will have many exlusives too, many great games. just wait...and then the sales will get better.
