Rings was due to be released at the end of next month, to tie in with Halloween. As Variety reports, it has now moved to February 3, 2017, the third time the release date has shifted. The movie was originally set to hit theaters on November 13, 2015, before moving to April 1 of this year, and then to October 28.

No reason has been given by distributors Paramount for the latest rescheduling. A trailer was released earlier this month--check it out here.

The studio had also shifted the release of the next part of the long-running Friday the 13th series, which is was originally set to debut on January 13, 2017. It will now be released on October 13 next year.

While Paramount has also declined to comment on this, it is less surprising than the Rings move. Although Friday the 13th producer Brad Fuller had previously commented that the film would be a prequel that would explore the origins of masked killer Jason Vorhees, no director or cast has been announced for the movie as yet.
