Next Halo squad-based, Master Chief-free?

Personally this would be the Halo i have waited for... I mean the others were great but i never really liked the chief.

Sounds awsome but when is it taking place in relation to the other 3 halo games

Whats up with all the "i hope it plays out after halo 3" ? I would love it if it played out before halo ce , fighting the covenant elites i something i've missed :P Although there would be no flood... no knowledge of the halo's ... hmm

Hmmmmmmm this could be interesting, marines without a one man tank that can destroy and entire covenant armada. With ACTUAL challenging things lol marines vs The Covenant/ The Flood. Could be vveeeerrryy interesting =]

Wouldn't mind it at all - I'm a fan of the MC but sometimes he's a bit short of well, emotional range? Marines could sport more personality I'm sure and at least they'd have the advantage of facial expressions! Plus they wouldn't be the straight up killing machine that the MC is, so there'd be that "danger/we could possibly die from any stray spiker round" aspect that would make them more human... ... as opposed to the Chief's aspect that goes something like: "it doesn't matter what size round, fired by what gun, on the ground, in the air or hanging onto an intergalatic Forerunner ship going through slipspace... I'm still going to live... and kill you... no matter what you do."

playing as a squad? this doesn't really seem like Bungie's expertise.

to actually read the full story go back into News & Previews, then click on the thing. this is gonna be a cool game! they should do something like a long time after halo 3 and marines have picked up that distress signal on the ass end of the ship and are sent to investigate. your not the chief but he's still there! but i doubt that will ever happen.

Yes!!! Finally a squad based Halo game with marines!(If they even follow this idea) And if they do this for real, I hope it will be revolutionary just like the first Halo. Drivable Pelicans, Air Strikes, Artillery exploding around you, MASSIVE battlefields, Squad Based multiplayer co-op, smarter tactical A.I.(taking cover when wounded, blind firing and when in cover, letting another trooper cover fire until the wounded soldier is ready to fight again) and one last thing, it features not cybernetically enhanced super soldiers that can flip a 66ton tank just by standing near it but normal soldiers that can fear the enemy and can get spooked and shoot blindly when scared and have mental breakdowns. That's my interpretation of the best Halo game ever(To Me). But hell, I'll just have to face the fact that the game I want is just way too ambitous...in that case, I think I'll call up the Pete Meister. XD

why is this under halo 2 and not 3? nevertheless I think it might tell the tale of the squad of helljumpers who were on the first halo that were talked about in Halo: The Flood.

They can't make another halo game without chief, it'll have to be a whole new series in the same universe as halo. I hope it takes place after the events of halo 3.

I don't mind that it doesn't have Chief, but I always figured that under the most dire of circumstances, you could pull in a squad or so of Spartans to wreak a little havoc.

The thing I'm worried about is that if you start doing some really crazy/intense stuff as a group of marines, you'll start wondering why the marines in Halo 1-3 sucked so bad...

This looks like it could be a great RTS game. Personally I don't care that the Master Chief won't be in it, if he was it would simply be all the other Halo's but it a different perspective. I just want to have a huge battle of the Marines against the Flood!!

I wanna know the name of the noob that thinks Halo Wars is "Bungie's next project." Isn't it someone's job to know these things? Halo Wars is being developed by Ensemble and Microsoft owns the rights to the Halo franchise. How is this "Bungie's next project?" To the best of my knowledge, they haven't even announced their next project. Worst. Headline. Ever.

Yeah i guess, although, as Master Chief you did feel unstoppable, he is more of a killing machine than man. Interesting to see how a normal human would stand against the covenant....

Ohhh wow that sucks! Master Chief can't be replaced!
