The newest entry in Phantasy Star Online 2, New Genesis, is coming in 2021, Sega announced during the Xbox games showcase. The free-to-play online action RPG came to Xbox One in April after initially releasing in Japan in 2012.

A brand new expansive world, open for players to explore. Brand new enemies, that look like a cross between organic monsters and technology.

Not only is there a massive new environment, New Genesis serves as a complete overhaul of the PSO2 experience, keeping the unique elements that make the game, while overhauling the game design, gameplay, and graphics engine. All of those will be "completely redesigned and reborn in all aspects," looking to offer players the best PSO2 experience possible. There will also be a new character creator, and players will be able to jump between New Genesis and the original game if they wish. Certain elements, including level, class skills, and Photon Arts, will not carry over.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is currently available on Xbox One and Windows 10 and is getting a new planet--Earth--in August. PSO2 will also be coming to Xbox Series X. A regional trailer for the expansion announced the game would also be coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4, however those consoles have only been confirmed for Japan, with no confirmation if they will get ported to the West.
