Next The Last Of Us Episode Drops Early To Avoid Super Bowl Clash
Episode 5 will premiere two full days early to avoid going up against the Super Bowl.
The next episode of HBO's The Last of Us will air this Friday, not Sunday, in a break from tradition to help avoid a clash with the Super Bowl. HBO has announced that Episode 5 will air this Friday, February 10, instead of its usual Sunday night slot.
The episode is set for release at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET that day. The traditional linear TV broadcast will go ahead as scheduled on HBO this Sunday, February 12, at the usual time-- 9 PM ET.
You can watch a trailer for Episode 5 below, but be warned that it's full of spoilers for anyone who is not completely caught up.
The Super Bowl, meanwhile, sees the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles for the title. The game is set to kick off at 6:30 PM ET, and it should run for more than three hours. Given that, it makes sense HBO would look to put the newest Last of Us episode out early to avoid a clash and help give the show its best shot at reaching the biggest possible audience.
