Next Xbox One/Windows 10 Update Arrives, Here's What It Does

The next Xbox One and Windows 10 updates have arrived, adding new features and functionality.

Starting off on Xbox One, a new tab called "Tournaments" will now appear in Killer Instinct's game page to add Arena support to the fighting game. From the Tournaments hub you can view available tournaments and join them.

Today's update also introduces the ability for players to create their own tournaments. Users can set a time and date, alter the settings, and write a description. The tournaments can then be posted to a Club's activity feed as a means to attract more players.

Here is a roundup of some of the other features that are available now on Xbox One and Windows 10 through the the update, as posted on Xbox Wire:

Looking For Group now has notifications, so you can find out right away when someone posts. Additionally, LFG posts can be shared on activity feeds and through messages.
Xbox Live Clubs now allow members to filter broadcasts by games and the "maturity rating" of a stream. Additionally, a Beam tab has been added to show broadcasts from that source.
You can now overlay the names of people in your party who are speaking. You can change the position of the overlay and its transparency.
The Dolby Access app is launching soon on Xbox One, introducing Dolby Atmos audio.

So this is just a software only solution for Dolby Atmos ? As to my understanding it needs a special chip to provide native support or did the Xbox have this chip installed but not activated?

@pork7: I'm on 10 x64, never had an issue personally, but then i'm not all people :)

gaming,workflow,apps,net,and every other thing you could think of even VM all on point ( you gotta disable all the naughty bits, but there will still be some you just can't disable )

@pork7Historically to date, it's Vista that was a catastrophe. Windows 10 is the better version of Windows 8/8.1.

Many prefer the familiar elements of Windows 7, but if you know your way around Windows 10 it's absolutely competent.

Why don't we hear about universal hate for W10? Because it's not there. It's mostly built-in reluctance to upgrade combined with a perception of Microsoft 'forcing' Windows 10 on you, or data mining you, etc. etc.

They've moved hundreds of millions of Windows 10, and it's become the new normal in PC OS.

Sure they're a huge, sometimes evil, multinational mega-corp rolling in giant mountains of cash thanks to OS and productivity software dominance, but that also means watchdogs are keeping tabs on them and MS is routinely upgrading Windows 10.

Sorry, but that's where all the support and functionality is now, and it really is quite fine when you get to grips with it. And yes, you can tweak privacy and update settings to comfortable levels in a few minutes, if you bother to look.:

You know, lately MS has been adding a lot of stuff to the Xbox One that, honestly, I have no interest in. I haven't been chatting on the Xbox at all recently... All these updates do is inconvenience me when I try to start the system up and have to wait for it to install.

I am 110% sure that others will see these new additions as a godsend and more power to them... But I wonder if maybe it is time for MS to start kinda breaking these updates into smaller chunks that a person has the choice to install or not?

@CRUSHER88: True. But it seems like a lot of these things could be made more granular and installed or not as the user wants. MS did that with Windows when they decided to remove a lot of the applications that normally appeared on Windows with Windows 10 (Removing things like Movie Maker and making them a list of applications that could be installed or not)...

Does it recognise my internal DVD drive now? Seems an issue for many laptop owners upgrading to to Windows 10.

I rolled back to Windows 7 as I had the same issue on 2 different laptop makes. Shades of Vista is my experience.

I switched from PS4 to Xbox One S a few months ago because of the horrendous PS UI/UX. Right now PS may have the best games (exclusives) but I'm sure that will change at E3.

@shadowweaver: I like what all you have access to on the Xbox dashboard. I like the activity feed, the new way you can access your friends list, etc. PS4 may be number one, but I just like the Xbox community better too.

@TexasStuBaby: Evidently you're the only mature person in this thread. I tend to agree with you in terms of the community, I didn't think their was a difference until I started gaming on Xbox. People seem to be friendlier and willing to help I'm glad to be a part of it!

@erictaylor: Are you comparing an advertisement for PS4 at a Taco Bell restaurant to a Mountain Dew ad on Xbox ones UI? Or was there never any mountain dew ads on Xbox one and it was the other way around? If I was wrong, I apologize for the mountain dew comment.
