Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection Coming In June

All three Ninja Gaiden games along with all of their associated DLC are finding a new home on Nintendo Switch this summer.

23 Comments

Ninja Gaiden is getting a second wind on multiple platforms this summer. The Ninja Gaiden Master Collection compiles Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge into one package. It's coming June 10, and not just to Nintendo Switch, as announced during the Nintendo Direct: PS4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam) versions are also on the way.

Just in case that's not enough ninjitsu action for you, the collection will also include all of the associated DLC across all three games.

Now I am happy that I can play Ninja Gaiden Sigma with trophies and rumble on PS4. I love Sigma on PS3 but after playing Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox One, I wish Team Ninja gave us Ninja Gaiden Black though Sigma does look better though graphic wise. I never beat Ninja Gaiden Sigma or Sigma 2 or played Razor's Edge before though have it on Xbox One.

Ninja Gaiden is a much better series of games than kiddy Kingdom Hearts so Valve wins.

When i heard about this i thought that it was the Nintendo trilogy. Disappointed that this is not the case. Hopefully one day, they would go back and do a remake of those 3 classic gems.

I'm here for that. I loved the hell out of the first game on the OG Xbox. It's a flawed game, and I don't know that it has aged amazingly well, but it'll be a lot of fun to go through it again. 2 was still good, so it'll be fun to give that another go too. 3 didn't click with me like the first 2 did, but I'd give it another shot.

@alastor529:

Probably cause Sigma and Sigma 2 have more content then Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2.

@alastor529: In what way? It was my understanding they took the original games and add stuff to them. Like that battle at the end of Level 2 in the first game that was just a cutscene on XBOX.

@skyhighgam3r: Sigma versions were made for the Playstation.

Back then,the PS2/PS3 couldnt handle stuff the OG Xbox/X360 could so they had to make changes to the game.

Like Heartagram listed,number of enemies spawning was reduced to keep the frame rate on the PS3 not dropping(among other changes).

May i suggest you looking for a Digital Foundry special where Ninja Gaiden was the main topic(with all version played and compared).

@skyhighgam3r: Yes, there's minor and major changes in the Sigma versions compared to the originals. The alterations in NGS2 are quite significant:

- totally redone game on a techincal level

- the gore was nerfed, blood is now purple mist

- a lot of enemy moves were removed or hampered, like the infamous Incendiary Ninja.

- half the enemy types removed;

- certain bosses were removed;

- enemy spawns changed so that the largest fights only have about 3-4 enemies at the same time. Entire chapters were also redone ex. [Chapter 11]

- to compliment this enemy HP values and delimb-resistance was buffed

- boss's framedata and attacks were nerfed

- the upgrade system was removed, instead you now just get an upgrade per blue-shop, limiting essence management.

- difficulty modes were changed, Master Ninja is now a basic OHKO mode where one hit kills you to compensate for the swarm of enemies;

- Ryu lost access to half his ranged moveset, ranged Ultimate Techniques were also removed;

- Mission mode was removed in favour of an online mode;

- Survival Mode was removed;

- New Game Plus was removed in favour of a Chapter Select

- 3 playable characters were added in rehashed missions and playable in the online;

- one new weapon was added;

- all costumes were removed in favour of reskins of costumes from Sigma 1 and a Dynasty Warrior crossover costume

@skyhighgam3r: They replaced most of the blood from the 360 games with blue/purple mist in the Sigma games for some reason. A lot of people didn't like that.

Ninja Gaiden Black is the best version of the first game, IMO.

@uninspiredcup: I was looking at Ninja Gaiden 2 on Xbox, thinking of getting it while it was still on Game Pass for that 20% discount. It's still 30$, not counting the DLC. Really glad I held off. I keep seeing people say that version is better than Sigma 2, but none of them will say why.
