At its pre-E3 event today, Nintendo announced that it's working on a fifth Mario Party game for release on the Game Cube later this year. Gameplay details are scarce at present, but the game will essentially be a collection of Mario-inspired minigames that you get to play as you work your way through a virtual board game. The game will support up to four players, and it's worth noting that if you choose to play the game on your own, the wait in between your turns will be significantly reduced by the fact that AI opponents will take their turns simultaneously.

Mario Party 5 is currently scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
