Nintendo preps GBA bit Generations series

Japanese gamers asked to test-drive titles in new line of games meant to get back to gaming's roots.

Nintendo Japan today announced that it is looking for help in preparing a new line of Game Boy Advance games to be released under the "bit Generations" banner. The publisher will give away free games from the series to 700 lucky participants in exchange for their feedback on an online bulletin board.

The Club Nintendo Web site explains that the bit Generation games use rudimentary graphics and bright colors in an attempt to reexamine the roots of gaming. All seven titles are budget priced at 2000 yen (about $18) each. The first three titles, Dotstream, Boundish, and Dialhex, will be released July 13, with four additional titles, Coloris, Orbital, Digidrive, and Soundvoyager, slated for July 27.

Interested gamers can sign up at the Club Nintendo site, but there are some restrictions. Potential candidates must have a GBA or DS and be members of Nintendo Japan's Club Nintendo. The deadline for entering the drawing is June 15.

I still like the idea that I still have a gbasp, but all the games only lasted about a week, I always seemed to beat them too quick, they were not difficult enough, but its all good for gba fans, have not bought a gba game in about a year, hate the gba and like the gbasp..lol One thing that I think is a fact , the gba has more rpg games than any other game system

Yeah the GBA has a phenominal library of games, many rare gems that are much better than current console games with high fidelity graphics. It proves that graphics don't make a good game and that this whole industry except Nintendo is focusing on the wrong thing.... graphics.

ANYONE who says the GBA shouldn't have any new games is a foolish gamer, i own a PSP and DS and yes they are superior, but the GBA has great games, and this series is meant to show graphics are not the most important factor, fun is, as well as pick up and go games are the best for handhelds as most play in short bursts each day. I say try before you comment, oh and i do still play N64 games.

Why doesn't nientendo give up on the GBA yet, I mean it is so poor compared to the DS and PSP. While GBA was awesome when it was new, when the DS it became (to be blunt) a peice of trash. Nientendo sould not waste its time with the GBA any more, the Hand-Held community would prefer new DS games to GBA games. I think GBA is as outdated as the N64, and I do not think anyone is still making N64 games.

Yes! Good thing Nintendo is still supporting GBA! Oh yeah, and DoctaSrangelov, the GBA will never die as long as the DS still plays back GBA games. As long as the DS keeps on having backward compatibility with the GBA then even if they stop selling GBA SPs and stuff, there will still be GBA games being made. Please let these bit generation games come ot the US Nintendo!

Yeah, this is good, but i have moved on, I have not played my gba sp in about a year, the games are getting remade too much from the old school games, that is getting boring, its either ds or psp for me, yeah as long as nintendo keeps making gba games the gba will keep living, hooray for the gba.

Well, Nintendo said that they want to GameBoy Advance to be relevant until the year 2010. Even though I thought it might be possible, I sure couldn't have guessed that they would do it on the backs of 20-year-old games...

LOL. Nintendo the used car salesmen. They're pawning their old technology on use and telling us how great is. This is so last year's. Just like the Wii, less for more.

Nice to see Nintendo not abandoning an aging platform that they are still profitting off.... I've moved on (though still playing Mother 3) to DS and PSP but there are so many gems on GBA I still play every now and again. Still waiting for FFVI too....

Cool, new retro games!!! It's too bad these games won't be released on the e-reader (at around $5 instead of $18 ), it was such a cool idea for a peripheral that got no support. These should have been the games that would have made it all worth while.

Wouldn't it be nice if these companies actually did something and let U.S gamers get first crack. Even Microsoft tries to make a better impression overseas. I mean I understand most new games are developed there but I think its time American companies showed American gamers some love.

Great news for the GBA and those lucky Club Nintendo members. It's also good that they are trying to show those games to the new generations, however I think that the price is a little high for each game. Let's hope that they can bring those titles to America.

sonds like a nintendo idea to me: a idea that fits well within their philosophy, yet misses the mark as far as what the public wants. Just put these in the next GBA version of WarioWare. That's what that series DOES....kinda.... and oh, yeah, I want Mother 1, 2, AND 3. Yesterday.
